Thanks to Casey (and the rest of the CFSJC ), I was pretty much talked into buying a J20 from jeepguyp. He's a great, honest seller for future reference.
It's an '80 with (we guess) 135,000 miles. 360/727/NP208, HD 44/FF 60 with 3.73 gears. It's pretty much factory delete everything, maybe even the towing package, because the hitch that is on it isn't factory. I guess it was a N.C. state-owned truck when new...hence the bare bones order form.
I know the interior pics look bad, but there was a rat living under the seat for a while...it cleaned up very nice with an hour's work with the shop vac. I guess I should say how much I love Rick's Suburban.
Here are the pics from Sunday.

I guess I don't understand your kind of humor, T.C., but if you've got something to say, I believe you've got my cell number...

hell yeah, it'll pull something:lol:

I plan to fix the bed sides, and swap out some of the interior for that from my '81 Cherokee.

I used a J-10 for a tow rig for 6 years. It had a 304, t-18 and 3:54 gears. I worked it hard, very hard pulling my junk up and down these hills, but it did it, just at a slower pace than most. It will do the job I would say.
The 727 is a strong tranny. I would flush the fluid and put a good size cooler on it.
I don't know a lot about the 208, but I think it's a decent t-case as well.

Enjoy!

Thanks Chip. It's got a good sized, factory cooler on it. The 208 was the best (light duty) t-case available for many years. The '80 model J-truck is kinda "sought after" because it's got all the goodies in one package. (brow, 208, etc)

If I'm not mistaken, I saw that truck at Bull Gear when I went up there to get my XZls a while back. He's got a pretty cool place up there!

didn't ya see the blingy pignose replacement that Rick gave me? lol, I will need other parts though...

let me know what all you need for this truck Earl. I'm starting to pull apart the 85 j20 i've got here.

sent you a PM over at IFSJA and here too:popcorn:
