my rear gate is stuck help?

I have a 94 grand cherokee and i closed my back pack strap in the latch perfectly some how and now it wont open.How do i get it open
 
Get someone to press hard on the door while you open the handle
 
I had something similar happen on my XJ. If you can manipulate the panel off the inside you should have alot more access to the latch area.

Yep, this strange thing happened to me once, and this worked. Just get the friend to push hard from the bottom of the gate on the inside.
 
Cut the backpack strap and pull? Not really sure... The latch on my ZJ always got caught up and i had to push and pull on the tailgate while messing with the latch until it came open.
 
ive tried this again and again i think i might try and take the panel off and mess with it
if that doesnt work its goin to the stealership
