Well I was out of the country,my dad, uncle and their two friends dragged me to South Africa for 3 weeks, wow what an adventure.I couldn't or actually didn't have time to show everyone the pics so here they are for everyone to enjoy.

Enjoy the pics:popcorn::beer:
Part 1 of my great S.A. adventure in April of 2010
Heres a few pictures from my S.A. Safari adventure I did in April.

ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD091.jpg

where we were greeted by our own private warrior clan
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_Zuluwarriors.jpg

They were great guys.
I was almost molested by "Jeffrey" in the hotels driveway
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_giraffe.jpg

Typical sign at almost all hotels
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD795.jpg

It was lucas's job to keep them away, very cool guy
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD281.jpg

The hotel had Zebra's ,giraffes and baboons on the property...........as well as croc's.
The heli pad was a favorite grazing spot for the zebras
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD079.jpg

ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD081.jpg

ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD278.jpg

We walked down to see Victoria Falls...........all I can say is wow...makes Niagra look small.
On the way down we found a statue of Livingston,he explored most of this part of africa, very cool history
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD168.jpg

ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD170.jpg

ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_borderpost.jpg

Sorry no pics of the border guards with polished Ak47's (may of been 74's,they were well worn hahaha)
time to head back
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_CAMERADLOAD203.jpg

We spent a few days in Zambia, the Zambezi Sun was an awesome hotel for me.
Flew back to J-burg (see falls pic is about 1/3 of them)
(falls from air)
We soon left out for the inner countryside in a tour bus this time ( I thought the bus was cool at first,it gets old after a while.best part tho'
was there were only 20 of us on the tour so we had plenty of room)
We ended up spending a few days in Kruger park.
(more pics put here)
We were on the hunt for the BIG 5:
Lion,Elephant,Cape buffalo,Rhino and the Leopard............
Well we saw 1000's of Impala's,elephants,Kudo(antelope 'bout the size of a horse) waterbucks bushbucks and several white rhino's......
Impala
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_impala.jpg

Kudo
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_kudo.jpg

Zebra
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_zebras.jpg

Impala's and friends
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_impala2.jpg

And one of the prettiest and most graceful animals....Giraffes
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_giraffe3.jpg

lot's of big huge elephants
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_elephnt2.jpg

no kitty cats yet
We continued on thru the country stopping here and there to shop at markets etc.........You buy wine, liquor etc at bottle stores......we did stop at a few of those.
You ever really wonder how big a Rhino is?
Ugh.......really big here is a smaller one about 8ft from the open truck just grazing, this one was about the size of an Amigo on 32's
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_whiterhino.jpg

The bigger horn was atleast 10" long
we did lot's of driving thru the bush and on paved "forest type roads" here is a wilderbeast.
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_wilderbeast.jpg

And lot's of worthogs running around, the little ones are almost cute....
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_worthog.jpg

We stopped at an Elephant sactuary and My dad and i rode an elephant........he had a chair thing like a king and I went bareback......I'm getting to old to do the split's.
Here are the "rides"
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_elephant1.jpg

Mines the one in the middle......the skin is actually about 1/2" thick hard 10 frit sand paper...........it was all good
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_elephantride.jpg

Afterwards we fed them and mingled round them, the backside of their ears are like a radiator, when they fan their ears it cools them down because all the blood vessels are at the surface..........and it's smoother than a new born babies head.
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_elephant2.jpg

It's been about a week and a half and still no cats!!!!.
.....the frustration was getting to everyone.
Our main tour guide kept saying"have patience, you'll see the big cats"
Yeah right......
Well did get to see Hyenas and the rare African wild dog!! very similar but hyenas are scavengers and wild dogs hunt in packs,we were out looking for cats when a truck stopped us and said there a pack of dogs attacking a zebra!!
off we went.........resting after a meal
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_rawwilddog.jpg

We stopped at several wineries on our journey on of them was Groot Canstatine it is the oldest winery in S.A. it about 400 years old,we went in for a tour and a tasting
heres there cellar
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_grootcellar.jpg

Our local wineries wine, which is my favorite....Chambourcin on the table at the Groot Constantine tasting table...yeh bo
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safari_groottasting.jpg

part3
I realized that at this point my pictures are pretty intermingled and my journey could be confusing to someone thats been there, luckily not many have..so enjoy the story
One afternoon in Kruger park,I finally found the "batcave" it was right overhead as we enjoyed an ice cold castle at lunch
ai168.photobucket.com_albums_u182_turtlemechanic_Africa_20safa5bd41d30f89aeb0837c4c4634a481bb6.jpg

we went thru Swaziland on the way to st.Lucia, interesting country way up in the mountains, not much going on so we hit a market for souvenirs and well....enjoyed some S.A. wines.
At this point it was time to do laundry.........1week and a lot of dirty clothes, grabbed some castle and hit the laundry room......1 washer and 1 dryer.Luckily it was just me and dad so we knocked out our laundry, helpd the local economy and finished as everyone went out for more shopping.......it was nice to enjoy the Indian ocean with a drink while 15 other people battle for hours to get laundry done, hahahaha
here's a bush buck

Howsit !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like a cool trip. I'm ready to check out and go somewhere again. I've been to Tangier north africa back in the day, tripped thru casablanca & the casba on a day trip from Rota Spain. Good times. Did you eat anything crazy-hippo burgers, pickled giraffe feet, water buffalo stew? Better yet did you smuggle any wine back?

Thanks for the pics! Looks like you had an awesome time! I think that was probably better than the ECORS race. I mean you got to go on Safari!

Really cool pic's!!!
I didn't know Gotwood was with you?
ostrichhead.jpg

I'm surprised you didn't request to be carried around in an Isuzu Trooper, Land Rovers Doug? How could you?

I don't blame you for going, looked like a blast, there will always be a spot for you as long as I'm still racin'!!

excellent pics
but something is missing -
where'e the pics of the trucks and you driving in the gnarly brush?

What was Johannesburg like, heard it was getting pretty bad there.

I stayed at the same hotel you did in Zambia about 4 years ago! It was amazing! DId you do any walking around in Livingston? Your pictures of Victoria Falls were amazing!

Thank you for sharing!

Zambezi Sun was the coolset hotel we stayed at,didn't get to walk much, but our guide took use downtown etc. and we got to talk with some of his friends. We also saw alot of the hospitals and clinics that Americans had helped with.

Got to eat:
Kudo,Impala, croc' and ostrich, bunch of weird stuff nothing really stood out as "tasting" different tho'

And if you guys look at the pics theres a few of us driving, see those trucks.........

Really hard to take pictures of trucks driving when there where only 2 trucks within 100 miles:lol:

I'll see if I have more truck pics for you:driver:
