My son, now in Iraq, will be coming home. This is his second tour in Iraq. First tour was cut short due to family situation, where he had to come home to take care of his daughter that was in a bad situation(bad mother)
This time, he is coming home due to a back injury. He was sent to Baghdad to be checked out. Doctor said he had at least two disc issues if not 4!
So he has to go back to Baghdad to be medavaced out to?? Maybe Germany, maybe stateside to Walter Reid in DC.
Not how he was hoping all this would transpire.

Back issues bring on the suck! Glad he is getting out of the war zone.

Safe journey!!!!

Just be careful they don't patch him up and send him back in. My bro-in-law got two screwed up discs in his neck from the Bradley hatch hitting him when they hit an IED. They sent him to Germany, band-aided him up, and sent him back to Iraq. He came home when his tour was up with a screwed up neck and two abdominal hernias.

yup...back injuries SUCK, but its better than missing appendages. Ive got disk injuries and it doesnt get in my way too much.

Ive been told to put off surgery as long as possible because im so young, im sure he'll hear the same.

Good luck to him. Glad he is coming home to ya.

my father in law was in the Marines (in Iraq for Desert Storm) and he has had multiple disc injuries in his lower back. He put it off so long that it was painful all day and night. A quick surgery and he is back to running 5-8 miles per day (after recovery).

Don't let it get too bad before surgery.

Glad to hear he is coming home sorry to hear about the injury. Hope he gets it straight and ty all for your service!

Hey glad he is coming home but not in those circumstances!Im in Bagram,Afghanistan for my 2nd tour but about to come in a few weeks!!!!I was kinda in the same boat this deployment I have had back trouble(never before just being 22) and they told me I had a pinched psyatic nerve but is now getting better thank goodness because that 16 hour flight would suck going home!We had a guy that went to germany to have back surgery a few months ago because it is more sanitary there and not much risk of infection!I hope he gets better!

Chip,
Thank him for me.
Glad he is coming home, hate that it may be with a messed up back.
God speed and safe travels, Im sure the little one will be glad to see daddy

Most Americans don't comprehend what it takes to defend this country. I do. (peace time veteran) Please tell your son that i deeply appreciate his service! Later, Paul...

Amen brother! I only wish the media would feel the same way and show it.:shaking:

I am happy too he is headed in this direction. Kinda feel bad also, hate it under these circumstances. Also, I have been lax in getting his truck ready. He has a toy truck here that still needs some attention. Not sure when he will be able to wheel it because of his back/ It still needs new joints or heims in the front, drive shaft fixed on the front. It has broke teeth in rear ring gear so was planning to move the welded front, to the rear, and have a new ring and pinion, and a lock rite to go in the front.
Add to that, he was wanting to change the rear of it to accommodate a couple seats for his daughter and his soon to be step daughter. (yeah two girls!) 4 and 5 at the moment.
So much to get done

Yikes.. hopefully he'll recover fully..

Thanks for your sacrifice, sorry it went this way. be positive and take care. Like to meet you some time. J C take care.

My brother messed up 2 discs and his pelvic bone in Tikrit from jumping a wall chasing a bad guy.

Godspeed to your son.

Josh, beers on me when you get back if ya want/
