How many years back do you have to go to be exempt from state inspections? I remeber hearing something about this a few years back.

35yrs old, and it needs no inspection whatsoever.
Anything before 1996 (OBDII) only needs the $9 saftey inspection
I think all counties are required to do the $30 emissions inspection on OBDII vehicles, but I'm not sure, maybe in 2007.
It used to be older than 25yrs old and you just needed the safety inspection, if you lived in an emissions county.
And diesels only need the $9 inspection.

I have a 84 chevy 3/4 ton with 1 ton axles,14" of lift and 44" tires, anyone think this will be a problem?

A problem getting it inspected, or just a problem in general...:D

You should be able to find someone to do it.

Yea know what you mean! Not like the jeeps I'm use to doing, but allways wanted to do a truck....Just don't think it will be as much fun as the jeeps!!!!

Just wondering if anyone knows of a shop in the Concord,N.C. area that will inspect a lifted 4x4 truck, with out any hassle? Thanks!

To address the original question... There are two places I've taken my Jeep to and they've never given me any troubles.

One is an older BP on 29 near S&D coffee. It's on the right as you're heading south, just past the Big Lots parking lot.

The other is a Speedee Lube place on 29. It's right across from Lowes.

I've used the BP for quite a while now. The guys there are more likely to BS and ask you about stuff you've done to the truck than give you a hard time. I only tried the Speedee Lube recently because the BP guy's were having trouble with their inspection machine a while back.

Not sure if there's anything about yours that would pose a problem, but either of these places would be worth a try.
