Can't get an answer from anyone, can somone help?
Once the V6 goes in my 2000 F150 i would like to install a 70's 302/351 V8, anyway i can do this and past inspection?
Thanks

Would be more trouble than its worth really, can be done for sure, just not worth the hassle.

As far as inspection goes, I am pretty sure you have to replace it with the same year or newer motor.

as far as the testing goes this is what they test for
headlights
parking lights
tail lights
beam indicator/light switch
license plate light
stop light
directional signals
horn
wipers
rear view mirrors
foot brake
emergency brake
steering mechanism
tires
exaust system
window tinting
catalytic converter
pcv valve
unleaded gas restrictor
exaust gas recirculation
fuel evaporative control
oxygen sensor
gas tank cap
... i just had mine inspected so that is what is required according to the paper

I was told NC has a Modified Registration for modified vehicles? Anyone hear of this?

it would be easier to buy a '95 or back with a 302 already in it and do a front clip swap from perrys fab n fiber. drop your sas onto that truck. no need to worry about emissions.

Someone please tell me that this is true and cars don't need emissions testing! I can't get my damn Trans Am to pass, friggin' SES light! :fuck-you:

theres a guy that runs around lexington with a newer trans am and its got a 383 stroker in it and its tag and everything, he runs it at the drag strips. i forgot to ask what it ran but i think he told me somewhere in the 700hp range

Mine is pretty stock other than exhaust, suspension, and brakes. I just finished swapping in a 6-spd and I'm getting a damn CAGS (skip-shift) code even though it is tuned out of the car. Very bizarre. DMV lost my extension paperwork, so now they tagged me for $57 and blocked out my registration until I get it inspected.

Fuck them, I still drive it just out of principle.

Take that DMV. :fuck-you:

unless it is 96 or newer, and then it has to pass OBDII emissions testing

never heard of it

Something along the lines of custom vehicle or kit. There is something like that mentioned, its just been over a year since I took the recertification, and cant remember the exact term used. I inspected a Mustang the other week that was registered as a 2009 custom. It was a eary 2000 model but registered as custom.

HOW TO REGISTER AN ANTIQUE OR CUSTOM BUILT VEHICLE
You will have to visit a Vehicle & License Plate Renewal Office near you to register your antique or custom-built Vehicle. When registering a custom-built or antique vehicle, you will need to bring the following materials to the renewal office:
A completed and notarized Title Application, when obtaining a title for a new, custom-built vehicle.
The Certificate of Title or manufacturer's certificate of origin, for antique or custom vehicles that have already been titled.
A completed Builder's Affidavit, for custom-built vehicles.
A completed Damage Disclosure Statement and current odometer reading.
An Inspector's Report, certifying that the vehicle is safe to take on the road. The DMV License and Theft Bureau Inspector will provide the report, following the vehicle inspection.
[edit]FEES
When registering an antique or custom-built vehicle, you will be required to pay the appropriate titling fees. In addition, when transferring a title, you will normally need to pay a Highway Use Tax, equivalent to 3% of the purchase price of the vehicle. The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles accepts cash, money orders or checks (with two forms of identification).
[edit]RENEWING A CUSTOM-BUILT OR ANTIQUE VEHICLE REGISTRATION
Your custom-built or antique vehicle's registration will clearly indicate when it will expire. The process for renewing the registration on a custom or antique vehicle is the same as renewing the registration on a regular motor vehicle.
[edit]ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Auto Insurance is required for all custom vehicles operated in North Carolina.

I would actually hope that COULDN'T be done...I see where you're trying to go with this and all, but I do not know where all these loopholes are coming from.

anything 95 or below, possibly 96 now I heard, can do pretty much whatever you want with, only have to pass safety.

Technically, safety inspection includes a visual review of the emissions equipment, confirming the presence of all apllicable devices, etc. Unlike the emissions test where they plug the vehicle's OBDII connector into the test equipment and interface with the state DMV computer, there is a lot of subjectivity to the safety inspection...

Yep, on my brother's 89 Formula they failed him for lack of catalytic converter. Even though it is safety only.

Fuck the DMV, they can suck every inch of my asshole. They have cost me so much time and frustration over the years.

Back in college they had a glitch in their computer and showed that my license was suspended, even though I had never gotten a ticket or been in an accident. A power hungry deputy sheriff in Tyrell County put me in handcuffs at a license checkpoint because of it. Then I had to pay a lawyer to get it taken care of, even though it wasn't my fault AT ALL and they ADMITTED TO IT!

And if that wasn't bad enough, it happened AGAIN a year later! Although the trooper believed me and was cool about it and didn't ticket me, I still had to get my dad to come pick me up on the side of the road.

And now they lost my waiver paperwork to extend the inspection period on my TA, so I have no registration and a $57 charge on my account.

Fuckers.
