When I got my utility trailer a couple a years ago I put permanent tags on it.
The DMV told me to pay taxes to the county and I never thought about it till this year but I still haven't got a tax bill for it.

Am I missing something?

I'm in Alamance County.

They should send it to you in the mail just like the taxes on your house...it's all the same stuff, just property tax.

I looked at my last property tax bill and did not see anything listed besides my house and land. Also checked the county tax site and I have no outstanding unpaid tax bills?

Real question is should I be worried about it?

Guilford county sends out a tax card yearly where you declare property such as trailers and unregistered vehicles. I guess I was honest the one year because its on there and I get billed 15-20 for my trailer with permanent tag.

In Chatham we have to list them every year with your real property and the send you a tax bill. If you don't list and then pay it voids the tag.

This is my concern from what I saw on the DMV site.
Looks like i'll be calling the Alamance county tax office

I ran into this when I moved to Forsyth county. I forgot to fill out the form on my tax bill where it says "personal" property. They finally matched everything up and sent me a "discovered property" invoice with a nice fine and then the current year's tax.

I get a Separate Property Tax bill every year on my boat & motor. The boat trailer is covered by the tag. But last year I did put a perm tag on the car trailer; I'll have to watch or list that one. BTW, they Screwed me Bad, on the value of the trailer. Got it reduced, but Still Outrageous. The Proper value would only save another 8-10 dollars, so wth!
