Need a auto shop with jeep experience.

I am about to start upgrading my '93 Wrangler and before i start doing all this lifting and anything i want to get it inspected pretty thoroughly. The shocks/suspension seems VERY tight like there is no suspension at all. Anyway, i live in the Charlotte, NC area and wanted to know of any auto shops anyone could recommend to take my jeep too and get a good checkup.

Hey If I were you I would go over to TARHEEL4WD which is off of tryon rd. The guys there are very nice kind and can help you a lot. They are great and have everything you need right there in the shop. Give them a call at 704 598 1000. Take care!!!

I've worked with Andy at CRS for a couple years and buy all my parts and such for jobs we've done for others. Always deals fair and won't steer you wrong. I'll be buying all my 4 link stuff for my jeep from him after Christmas.
 
Sounds like 3 good places to start, IMHO I've had some negatives with TarHeel4WD, but that was in the past and a whil ago, never dealt with Andy at CRS but have heard NOTHING but GREAT things from thereeither way GL!
 
Andy is a good guy. Used to deal w/ the online places, now I just stick with CRS. (When I have money I am not spending on gas).-Josh

Matt, I don't know what your issue with Andy and CRS is, but if you have a bad experience with work he did, then you need to post it. If it's just personal, then it needs to stay that way, and not be aired out on the board.

I shop at Tarheel and have not been to andys shop.
But I'm still having such a hard time not flaming you for that.

And for the record, in multiple years of talking and making plans, etc. with us and us helping him out with various things, Matt has never spent a dime at my shop. Even when he blew the suspension out from under his Rubi and he called me late on a saturday night and I offered to come in, meet the tow truck, and fix it sunday morning so he could get back to Raleigh, he decided not to call me back. Studnuts takes care of all his stuff and that is totally cool.

I'm partial to Tarheel because I have married Wayne's niece ;)
 
Tarheel sucks, I wouldn't give them a dime of my money. I went there to spend well over a grand in parts and got nothing but grief from the sales guy. No thanks.

Andy has been great to me with my jeep, from getting me parts to building some sick one off stuff. He is currently working on an auto swap for my TJ.

That's kewl, I am good friends with Wayne, Ron, Steve and the guys from up there. No big deal either way, just swing by sometime and we will chat.

Call Phillip a cocksucker all you want, won't bother me a bit. I like to give him a hard time but he is an alright guy.

Probably was a scowl cause we were trying to get the Creative Loafing guy out on the trail and we had to keep waiting on Steve....lol

Yeah, I have known Philip for a long time. He is a really nice guy, we give him a hard time as well.

I've had great experience with both places. Mostly I use them a parts warehouses. I haven't had that much experience with Andy, but what I had was top notch. Same way with Tarheel. Both are good places, but go with whoever you wish.

doughboy, speak your experiences or keep the trap shut.

I think hes still mad about his gas boycott post that got all kinds of flamin replies....

Andy is a kickass guy. I haven't spent a dime with him yet and he has answered all my questions. In fact I tried to spend some money with him recently and he told me I'd get a better price going direct to the manufacturer on the item, he could have just taken my money. He has also taken on helping out with a project Rockcity and I are working on. A project that will take his time and give him no return but will help out the wheeling community. Can't say what it is yet, but just note that Andy is a stand up guy. And I'm saving my allowance to spend at his shop soon :D

The issue here is the Studdynuts followers don't mix with the guys that respect Andy's customer service and quality of work. It's obvious, we all know, so why not let it go. :beer:
 
theres just a few little clicks on the board. they happen, but theres no reason to get all pissy over a personal problem (mainly doughboy doesn't seem to like anyone... especially Andy for some reason which remains a mystery to me)

Doughboy, why not Andy??? If its business, then lets hear it, otherwise, keep your trap shut.

I'm tired of everyone bad mouthing people based on hear-say or personal problems. If its not business related, then it has no real relavance in this situation. Get your panties out of a wadd, grow some balls and move on.

One more for Andy
I bought some used toy parts from him and he was so good about every thing and the quote he gave me on a project was insane. (on his part not mine)
any way I liked his attitude so much I gave him a rear housing
I had laying around for a project he was working on at the time.
with the understanding of working out the difference on the project of mine.
I never got to spend my money there since I lost my job at the time but
when I get the funds built back up I will spend it there for sure.

Andy i been meaning to ask you about the runner you were working on at
the time did you get it done?
how did that rear housing work out for you?
