Hey guys,
I am new around here but I need a favor. I recently bought a wrangler and have been trying to track down an electrical issue for the past few weeks and have been getting irritated not being able to nail it down. Does anyone have an ECM (computer) that I could borrow that lives anywhere in or around Raleigh/Cary/Durham/etc. I think this is probably the the problem and I just need to swap it out temporarily to see if it fixes the issue.

Must fit a 99 Jeep wrangler tj, 2.5L, manual transmission. I would really appreciate it!

In a 99 model there could be several different PCMs. Take a meter to the pins and test the input - output to see if they are within range.

as long as the main things are the same, it should still work though right? (for trying a swap of another 99 pcm) aka engine size, trans type, etc.

I don't have one, but people on here don't know you, and because of that are probably not terribly inclined to let you borrow there computer.

Best bet, Buy one, replace it, if it fixes your problem, great buy, if it doesn't take it back and say it wasn't the part you needed. No harm there.

some do, that know me on other forums. they can vouch that im not crazy and will steal your ECM. lol

Im just trying to explore less expensive options than buying an almost 300 dollar part. and you cannot replace a computer once its been programmed to fit your vehicle.

i was hoping someone could help out another local jeeper!

Something else to consider. Maybe people are afraid that what ever fried your computer might do the same to theirs. Are you willing to pony up $2-300 to replace some one's ECM if it gets fried and then spend another $300 to replace your own?

I bought a ECU for my 97 XJ 4.0 auto from Napa recently, got it for a fair price, pre flashed, and it could have been returned.

What issues are you having, I had a fried PCM on a 2.5L TJ, I might could help
My replacement came from the PBB $20 from someone that swap motors.

PBB?

anyway.. the jeep ran rich, really rich, and eventually started running rough and shutting down (over the course of about 1-2 weeks). now it won't start. its getting fuel just fine but the coil isnt getting a constant 12v. the wires had been extended and every wire on the harness piggybagged onto (long story). I installed a new harness last night and still the car won't start. 02s are brand new, crankshaft position sensor and MAP were just replaced and didnt help. Im at a loss..

PBB = Pirate4x4 bullenten board or Forum
Do the gauges respond at all, Mine wouldn't, turn the key and they would hardly move.

yep, they function normally.

when we would connect a constant 12v from battery to coil the car would start up and run fine every time. i know its gets the 12v constant from the ASD relay and the computer basically pulses the ground in order for it to fire. So maybe the grounds in my ECM are faulty? not really sure.. could be something im over looking.
