Need a new Battery...any suggestions?

Needing a new battery for the XJ.

Looking for any suggestions. I heard Optima was not really quite up to par these days. What do you guys use in your daily driver? Keep in mind most of my year is spent in Boone, so the better cold weather battery it is, the better it is for me.
 
Ok, seriously. In a non-optima battery I use autozone's duralast gold in the largest CCA that I can fit into the battery box.
 
AutoZones duralast Gold batterys are comsumer reports best rated battery. I would agree, just get a duralast gold. The best part of autozone is the warranty. You can go to any store anywhere with your phone number and your warranty is good. No one else does that.
 
Odyssey AGM batteries are a little expensive but are worth it.

I'm running a PC2150 in the 4Mogger.
 
Just get the most CCA you can fit in there and you should be fine in Boone. I had an Advance Auto gold batttery in my jeep all 5 years I was in Boone, and never had an issue.

Advance Auto Parts also does this with the warranty.

When did they stat this? Last time I needed to warranty something when I was out of town, it wasn't easy. I just so happened to have my local advance's number and they called them.

As far as Batteries, I opted for the Everlast from Wally World. 1000cca, and a three year FULL replacement. $90 with exchange. Everyone else only offered me a two year warranty
 
Advance's warranty info is only stored at the store the part is purchased at. If you can remember the store where you got it, and the store where you are having the problem is willing to call and go through the process of a return over the phone they can swap it for you.

AutoZone's warranty is nationwide. You can be anywhere and they can pull your warranty up in the computer as long as you remember the phone number you used.

The duralast gold battery is also 3 year free replacment and then 5 more years of prorated warranty.
 
I've got a Deka Intimidator in my TJ. It's similar to an Optima (dry cell), but better quality than the new Optimas. It hasn't left me stranded yet.
 
The exide orbital is a really good battery also. Only place that I know of that still carries them is pepboys and tire kingdom. Like an optima but better quality.
 
Everybody talks bad about optimas but I love mine. I have it in my mustang which uses as much or more electronics than a newer vehicle and have zero issues. The car cranks everytime. I have had the battery for 3 years now of which the car was broke for about 4 months the first time. I left the battery in the car and when it was back together still fired the car up. Did the same the second time when I switched the drivetrain from the coupe to the vert.
 
Optima batterys used to be made extremely well. The one in my jeep is from 1999. It out lived the last two jeeps. The newer ones in the last two years or so are crap.
 
I bought a truck a few months ago with 2 Ever Start batteries from Walmart. Needless to say they were both toast, but I took them back to walmart and they prorated them both. I had a reciept for one but not the other(but it did have a manufacture date on it) and they gave me a $35 credit on one and $45 on the other. I thought that was pretty good since I hadn't purchased either battery and didn't even have a reciept for one. The guy said they replace them in the first 3 years then prorate them up to 6 years.
