Any suggestions besides Optima (cant afford it right now )

Whats the best quality I can get for the least amount of cash right now? For now, this semester is going to be a little tight money wise.

I'd just get the cheapest thing I could at vato zone for now till I could afford what I want. That's what I did for my dd 4runner. It's still going after a full year.

The new optima is a piece of shit anyway. The autozone gold tops are good batteries and will last a long time.

x2... the last couple of Optima's I've had left me wondering ytf I spent the extra coin for this "upgrade". Luckily my last one was under the 3yr warranty, I got a free replacement, put it right on craigslist (posted it here, but you guys know better).

Through O'Reilly's, I got a 950cca Motorcraft battery for 99.99. I thought that was a helluva deal. Now I think they have a 800cca for 79.99. Beyond that, figure out what the max you can spend is and find the battery with the most cca's.

I picked up a blemished optima red top from an Interstate battery store for $60ish and it has performed excellently so far.

Also running the gold top autozone special in another vehicle without a problem.

Just another vote not to switch over to the Optima's I warrantied two this morning and its getting really old. I've had good luck with the ACDelco Professional Series though.

I have had two optimas and had to return both, the second time I just got my money back.

Built to last...Duralast! LOL:beer:

Pretty sure its a Duralast thats in it now. I cant remember.

I pushed it across the parking lot a few minutes ago so I can get someone to help me jump it off so I can make 100% sure its the battery at Advance. Dont wanna spend the money if its another part of the ignition system.

Shoulda tried to bumpstart it as it rolled across the lot, but I suppose Id just be in trouble getting it started at Advance so its whatever.

I have had good success with the Auto Zone brand, Autocraft maybe, I just get the most CCAs that I can get and call it a day. Most of them last for at least three years, so not a bad deal for around $70

Autocraft is Advance Auto's brand that they/I/we carry. I work at Advance. ;)

Wal mart. I have had good luck with them. On the carnival we ran interstate & had a lot of issues with them especially in the cold. Duralast is also a good choice.

Wow, brain fart, I meant Advance, I really don't like going to Auto Zone, so I am a frequent shopper at Advance

AFAIK, there are only like 3 battery manufacturers...Johnson Controls being the one that produces the Autocraft brand.

I have a place here in charlotte I go to that has refurbished batteries. The longer warranty you want the more you pay. Mine has a 3 year warranty on it and I only gave about $30 for it. Just can't find the reciept if it goes bad.

Im just gonna pick up one from walmart...everlast or something like that.

Problem now is, I cant get the old one out. The bolts keeping the battery retainer bar on are completely rusted.

I bought a big ass battery from Sam's Club. It was advertised as a commercial battery. 1,100 or 1,200 CA or something ridiculous. I think it cost me $100.

Optima is now made by exide. Exide makes a great ni cad battery for industrial equipment, but they nearly bankrupted sears automotive in the late 90s when they started making diehards, which prior had the best reputation going.

These days die hards are back to being made by johnson controls and are a decent battery but have never lived down the exide issues and reputation.

My last 3 have come from Wal Mart. They are as good new, cheaper, and have a better warranty for thee given price point, plus its wal mart. If you have a battery getting near its warranty period, just carry it on in to customer service, they are not going to test it just give you a new one.

Finally got the battery out, and replaced it.

ITS ALIVE!

The stupid turn signal is out though, gotta replace that bulb before I get it inspected I suppose
