need a rebuilt jeep 4.2 258, wtf are they so expensive

Best places to look, basically no one seems to have any in stock, need my core. Most prices 2500-3500. Anybody know a better route, or have a used one that runs excellent. Gracias

All the parts got snatched up to build 4.0 strokers, which would be a great substitute for a 258

@1983Bronco @ncsutj here are some pictures of the YJ. Engine is not in the Jeep, never got around to putting it in after we bought it. Have everything to put the Jeep back together though. I'll get pictures of the engine tomorrow evening, it's buried in the corner of the shop.
