well i finshed up my susp/axle swap yesterday and this morning i went to test the steering and etc... well to make a long story short. my lockright wasnt releaseing and leting me turn the way i should be able to. i poped off the D30 cover and it looks like the 4 pins in the lockright are out of place and are sanwiched between the two metal pecies....i dont mess with the internals on diffs and this is all a new world to me. any help would be great! Can i order new pins or is my locker shot? hell a walk through on how a lockright works (racheting in and out) or even what the pin is called or does would help.

pleaz let the info start to roll in, im completly burnt out at the moment. thanks!

You're going to need to pull the carrier and un-install the locker to get the pins out. Sounds like somethings wrong with either you pins or the springs. You can get a spring and pin kit from Summit Racing for about 15-20 bucks.

if thats just the case sweet. something is deffenitly wrong with the springs and pins just wasnt sure they were sold seperatly. thanks

if the pins broke and are forced in-between the hafts, chances are you are going to need a new one. i would pull it and check before i ordered...but i would start saving$$.

damn...i was feeling good for a second. the pins were deff broke and sitting inbetween the hafts:confused:

I don't think you'll have to get another locker, but we won't know for sure until its opened up. The pins are called "shear pins" and are designed to break like that if something goes wrong. I broke all 4 of the shear pins in my lockright along with both axleshafts. Pulled everything out, installed a new Pin and Spring kit, and its working perfectly again.

did you remember to reinstall the side shims / washers when you took out the spiders and put in the lunchbox? that would cause the two halfs of the locker to open too much and allow the pins to come out of their sockets and jam/break...

when you pull the locker out see if the shims / washers are on the sides of the locker... you definatly need those.

if it does have those then you have some other sort of installation problem it sounds like... might be time to bust out the dial caliper and see what's out of spec....
