I recently traded my Buell for a field fresh 1960 F100 4x4. It is all stock with a 292 Y-Block and 4 speed manual on the floor. Would anyone know what axles come under these originally. The rear looks like a 9" and might be but the center section seems a little different than ones Ive seen. The front might be a Dana 44 with closed knuckles but Im not sure. The center has the angular sides like a Dana but I would like to know for sure. I would also like to know what trans and transfer case it might have. The transfer case is divorced if that helps any. Im having trouble finding much ifo on these as they are pretty rare. On top of that the 57-60 model year trucks are kind of a redheaded stepchild anyways. I cant post pics right now but will try to later. Thanks for the info.

Almost impossible without pics. Also look for any numeric/alphabetic markings, aluminum stamped tags and give us the shift patterns.
I'd guess a Dana 44 would have been the only choice up front. Ford 9" most likely in rear would be the narrowest version same as an early bronco. Most early Ford stuff was course splined. Not pertaining to this F100, but I know the Dana 60's back then were redesigned around 1966 and everything was incompatible between the two.

T-case guessing dana 20 but MAJOR guess on that one.

4.56 gear and 1:1 (no splitter gears) t-cases were most common back then since max speeds were based on 55 mph.

Would be nice to see pics of the truck itself!

Plans are to repair rust, and get it drivable. I have no idea if the 292 is in running condition or not. That will be first on the agenda. Then brakes and tires. I plan to stay stock with this. The skinny tire look just seems badass to me. Id like to get the Y-block going too. Its is a seldom used engine due to the fact that more modern stuff is much more readily available. Ive read that an FE motor can be bolted in its place if needed, but we wont go there unless we have to. I did find a complete running Y block and trans on Raleigh craigslist for $800, so I guess they are out there. And let me know about those axle ID's. Thanks.

Definitely a D44 front and 9" rear. That's a cool truck.

To be exact:

Front is a Dana 44, drivers drop, standard rotation (low pinion), leaf-sprung, kingpin closed-knuckle with drum brakes.

Rear is a 28-spline Ford 9" with drum brakes.

Love that truck! Good luck with it!

Barely over a year ago, I introduced "UTfball68", to a 59, located just out of Mount Holly. I was thinking it was a F250, which he wanted, but when he checked it out, it was a F100.
Anybody Really interested in one, might ask him for info on this. It's also a short bed, & much less rust, as I remember. Owner still has it. Not running.
