Well as some of you know my 93 ZJ was smashed head on by a drunk (well high actually) driver, so now I need to replace the front steering.

My question is I was running the stock wagonner steering (my front axle is a '90 waggy 44) and this go round I would like to upgrade a little. Right now I don't want to run full hydro, I will probably run hydro assist (already have the ram and the steering box is tapped). What would you recommend?

You could make some custom ones out of 1.5" Dom tube

^ didn't know ECGS had those, thanks!

Now the question is crossover or y-link? Pros and cons?

Y-link blows goat

Y link is what comes stock on most jeeps, right?

Yes, ditch the y link. Crossover/hi-steer. With the Y you've got a weak point where the tie rods connect. I've bent mine several times. My XJ's at MarsFab right now getting crossover and a WJ knuckle swap.

If you want to run stock waggie style steering you can go with the y link kit. If you have a flat top knuckle to mill/drill on the passenger side, I would do that and run separate tr/dl. However, on the ZJ you may have other geometry issues to deal with if you got that route.

If the stock waggie stuff/geometry was working for you, go with the y link kit.

So if I have factory waggy 44 knuckles, and I want to do the crossover steering, then I would need to ditch those knuckles and buy new flaptop ones? If this is the case, then I may just have to go the y link because new knuckles are not in the budget right now.

even if you get flatops running true crossover on a 44 in a jeep is tricky. in order to get full steering you need a longer pitman arm and to run the long pitman arm in order for your drag link not to run into the tierod you have to push the box forward. So y link may suck but it much easier to set up.

Y-link it is! Ordering from you now Chase

Cool that's a good kit...exactly how I would build them. Now you just need to cut them to fit and weld them up! The good thing is those are stock chevy TRE's and you can get them easily.
