Hey guys long story short im changing from a carter bbd carb to an upgraded motorcraft 2100, ive done pretty much everything, bought the universal flange and kit from summit to mount this new carb, installed the new throttle linkage but its a little weird because it required tearing out all emission aside from a couple (dizzy advance, manifold, ported vac) when i crank it up it idles at 3k never goes down, i then realize my choke wasnt hooked up, i then find out my choke wire/clip is not compatible so i have two choices: to buy adapter, or i use a manual choke. Everyone recomends the manual choke, and sadly enough this is where im stuck. im so close to being done, and its been so long since ive messed with it i dont even remember what needs to be done/checked, im hoping to find someone who could pop the hood check my work, and can point and tell me what goes where, and what needs to be taken out/capped off etc.. hopefully someone who has done this swap before. jeep dosent have insurance so i cant drive it anywhere. Im located in south winston (wallburg) if anyone could lend a hand i will gladly pay you and your gas, im sure if someone who is familiar with this swap takes a look at it, it will be back up and running in no time.

if anyone is wiling to stop by this weekend or next weekend that would be awesome.

Give me a call. My name is Britt

I assume you have already bypassed the computer. I would also go with a manuel choke. Just FYI when I did mine, I capped off the dist vacum advance and mine ran great. I will look to see if I can find picks of the choke set up. Not close enough to stop by.

yeah i already did the nutter bypass. i cant believe it ran good like that, but whatever works ill def take a pic if you have one.

offer still stands if someone will come help, thanks guys

Hey rolled, I'm too far away, to make it up there. Wanted to tell you about A manual choke cable kit, i recently installed on my Mc2100. Got it from advance auto. It comes with all the stuff you'll need. About $10.00, it is the one that has the black plastic round chumpy, that replaces the choke coil cover. Cable is nice, & the lever shaft goes through the plastic cover, using little hairpin clips. I used the C-clip assortment from A/A to get the c's i needed to replace the hairpins. IN THE MEANTIME; remove the choke coil cover, & wire the choke in the open position. this will get you up,& running! good luck. Oh one more thing, the choke coil might work if it gets turned around. the coil is reversed, & closes the choke instead of opening it. I reversed mine, & didn't like it, so I went with the cable instead. Works great now. Mc2100 is A much better carb, than the carter BBD. Whatever it takes to set it up, Will be worth the effort!

thanks so much for all that, its so crazy i just cant figure out this manual choke, i put it on but it wont catch or it will catch and not come back. then i read something about if it has 2 choke tangs bend one down. i didnt want to mess with anything. im gonna go check it out tomm. we will see

Im lost the carb has an electric choke on it?

If so hook 12v to the pin and you are done. The choke diaphram has a heat coil and it will open close as needed....

Sounds like you got the same kit, The new shaft tang, needs to straddle only one tang on the choke lever. Just bend one of 'em down towards centerline of shafts. Leave A little slack, in the cable. When the choke is all the way opened, You should be able to push the knob in, & it should come back out 1/4", so you know it's open by looking at it(the knob).

Hey Skyhi, with the Mc2100, the choke coil winds in the opposite direction than the Carter BBD. Even when it is reversed, it still doesn't seem to work right. I'm pretty good at figuring these type of things out. I tried, without 100% success. So the cable kit was the ticket. Most of the research, I did led me to believe that this was the way to go from the start. Yet I still had to try to get the electric choke to work. In retrospect, I should have just went with the cable. The heep starts right up. The choke is always open. Tap the gas once, & it fires right up. I figure, if it gets cold enough outside, I may need to choke it A little. That remains to be seen.
