saturday took dash out of my 95 Suburban 5.7 to replace evaporator core. all went well.
Put it back to together, now Cruise Control doesn't work and Torque Converter not locking up in Overdrive. I realize I probably have to remove the dash again at least enough to see what I left unplugged???? I really don't think I left anything unplugged but I think it's weird that cruise (always worked) and converter always worked just fine till after the job.
Any ideas of where to start looking? anyone know specific area where something unplugged would affect either of these 2 or is this really just a freak conincidence. Any ideas/help would be great thank you

Check your brake light switch, and the plug/harness, and if you have a brake controller check all of that too.

Just thinking out loud here. If you hit the brake controller box on my last two trucks, even without a trailer, it will gear down and unlock the converter. Also happens if you keep in the gas and ride the brake just a little, because of these brake related things doing that, that’s why I’m thinking you should check all the plugs/harnesses related to brakes.

I’m probably wrong.

My very first thought was the brake light switch. I'd almost be willing to bet that's all it is. Especially since it's cruise control AND the converter not locking. That's the only thing in the dash area that controls both of those things. It probably just needs to be adjusted a hair.

@77GreenMachine not necessarily. I had a ZJ that would bounce in and out of overdrive and finally came down to the brake light switch on the pedal.

That’s why I said to check that switch too.
It could be a number of things, but brake pedal switch and brake controller would be where I start.

wow, cool thank you guys. That makes sense and sure enough, just went out and no brake lights...whew. At least I don't have to remove the stinking dash lol. Appreciate it fellas. Have a great week to all.
