Buying a new set of tires for the tow rig. 2000 7.3 excursion.

Tires will be boring 285/75/16's.

I'm between the Cooper AT3, Nitto Terra Grapplers, or possibly another suggestion?

Want an all terrain as I do tow to many places that it would be handy, good tread life, good load, etc...

Also, I never buy new tires, debating Road Hazard. Seems like an extra 30 bucks a tire. Worth it?

I'm really liking these ST Maxx by Cooper. If I was to get the AT3, I'd get the XLT.

I've got Nitto terra grapplers on mine, and the rears have 50k on them and not down to the wear bars yet. Had to replace the fronts at 40k because of a bad alignment, but pretty sure they would have made it to 50k

I run Cooper STT Pros and like them, but more than a A/T tire

I've had really good luck with the Hankook Dynapro RF10's. If you want something that is more aggressive, I love the goodyear duratracs - only downside to them, is you'll want to rotate them religiously, but if you do i've gotten about 60K out of them on my 2500hd.

Evrytime this comes up me adn @Jody Treadway are usually the two waving the Toyo ATs.

Ive got ~70k on the set on my Tundra and they still have considerable tread left. They may go 90k

My experiences with tires on a F350 diesel, SRW...

BFG ATs suck ass! May people seem to like them on small suvs and light trucks, but in a heavy diesel, they suck ass! I had belts break, tires wear out at 25k miles, and get side wall bubbles. Oh and BFG doesn’t warranty these tires at all, not even on mileage, it’s not even offered (or at least it wasn’t a couple years ago).

I tried the Goodyear all terrains. Held up ok but not very good in wet grass.

I liked the Cooper AT3 but they changed the design of this tire recently and I hadn’t heard of any reviews (good or bad) of the new design, so I bought different tires when these wore out. Tread life was pretty good, around 55k miles with minimal maintenance. Did well as an all terrain tire.

I currently have the Nitto Terra Grappler and they seem to do good so far. Only have about 3,000 miles on them at the moment. They feel a lot different than the Coopers. Exact same wheel, tire size, air pressure, and load range, the Nittos seem to walk around a little during turns. It almost feels like the sidewall is flexing. Maybe I’m paranoid and it’s just the different feeling of new tires versus old tires.

I’d buy the Cooper AT3 again if reviews on new design were similar to the old ones. I’d buy the Nittos again. I wouldn’t run the BFGs on this F350 diesel even if they were free.

I am currently running Nitto ridge grapplers on a 2500hd. I wanted to try something different. I have always used BFG ats but the new ones were not getting good reviews. It was a toss up between the ridge grapplers, Toto at or rts. I have been pleased so far. Good traction in grass and snow and quiet on the road. Only have about 15k on them and very little wear.

I have the new Cooper AT3 XLTs on my truck for probably close to 10k miles now and they are holding up well. They look great, are quiet, balance well, and are cheap compared to most of the other options. Only downside is they aren't super aggressive, which is probably why they do all of the other things well.

Toyo Open Country R/T... hybrid between the A/T and M/T. So far very pleased.

I run these on my exploder (simply because they don't MAKE a Terra Grappler in the size I need for the exploder) and they've done well enough. So well, I'm on my second set. The Terra Grappler is better in the mud/wet grass but you get them spinning and clean the tread enough, the AT3's with leave sufficient ruts in the yard and get that trailer up the hill :driver::rockon:

Based on your tire choice, I bet you drink discount black coffee at Hardee's around 5 am each weekday morning.

I haven't ran a BFG in about 10 years. I had nothing but issues in the past. So I refuse to buy them period. I have Michelins on the truck now, they have been excellent tires, I think I've got maybe 70k on them, but I want something more aggressive.

I have always heard excellent things about the Toyo's. The price difference is not as much as it used to be.

Anyone know of any special tire sales going on? I usually hit a few vendors up for pricing, but I still get employee pricing at my former employer and they let me mount them for free so that's hard to beat haha.

4 wheel parts has a $100 off deal right now on the toyos. 850 for 4. Not bad at all.

Hit up a few local vendors. Brandon at Rides (No surprise) offered a killer deal on the Toyo's installed. So if you're looking, skip over everyone else and just call him.

Brandon is the toyo man! I've bought 3 sets from him and will go back for more.

Haha. Yeah I have bought a lot of stuff from him over the years, unfortunately he's an hour and a half from me, and since I switched jobs I have no time off during the week. Sadly, I may have to bite the bullet and pay more to get them locally unless I can figure out some off time. He has always crushed everyone else's prices.

They aren't super aggressive, but they are super awesome looking compared to the regular AT3. I'm a big fan of Coopers in general though.

I've have two friends with Toyo RTs. One on a crew cab, short bed LBZ truck (35x12.50-20) and the other with an 02 Dodge diesel, ex cab, short bed (295/70R17) and both of them said they didn't get nearly as many miles out of them as they should have. 30,000 - 35,000. The guy with the LBZ had his second set prorated because of the first set...I think that's the only reason he got another set of them. They both said they liked them other than that. Your results may vary.

Bought my Toyo ATII from simpletire.com. Was the best price I had found. Awesome tread but still quiet on the road. Delivered to my door in 3 days, free shipping. They have good sales from time to time depending on your timeline. When the tires on my new dually wear out I’ll be going back to a Toyo

+2. SimpleTire kicks ass.

For what its worth, I would rather buy from a vendor or local shop. I'm fortunate to have good dealings with many in my area.

I am buying my tires from Pearman at KC Extreme this week, Brandon @ Rides was a better deal, but I just can't get out there during the week. I wheel with Pearman, he's let me whip his rzr, and we've known eachother for a decade. Happy to give him my business when prices are comparable.

Which ones are you going with?
