Well I quickly realized how flimsy XJ body is and i dont want to end up with a recked XJ in the first few months.

i want fender protection and sliders

i mocked up a little something that i think would look nice on my computer. the grey that stands out would be were i think some tubing and square dom would look good and serve a lot of protection

what ya think?
Have you seen anything where i could buy it pre made or is custom going ot be cheaper?
I still dont have any welding capabilities....sorry charlie

I think ya just need rockrails to save the unibody, keep the doorframes square so the doors will always function. Leave the fenders open, sacrificial offerings to the rock gods.

Start with some rock sliders for the rocker panels, Depending on how far your tire stick out from the fender wells, But mine in a TJ keep my fenders in pretty good shape. Tires hit before fenders, Unless I am really off camber.

I cannot recommend AJ's offroad Super Rails highly enough for your XJ. I know you haven't wheeled with me, but ask just about anyone here I beat the everliving caca out of my sliders. I have the AJ's Super Square Rails and I absolutely love them. I've smacked the jeep side to side on rocks with them and they've barely dinged. They're bolt ons and also bolt to the pinch weld. The tube rails are just as strong.

As far as other reinforcement goes I would protect your rear quarter panels. I don't have any recommendations on brands, but plating them with steel will help reduce your body damage. I've plated my frame, but if you're not going to be smacking the crap out of it like I do then that might be overkill.

Others skids to consider (in order of importance, imo)
Gas Tank
Tranny
T-case
Engine

x2 on AJs. I have the tube version on my white classic, looks identical to the pic above. I've been fairly conservative with mine, since its a DD, but I don't hesitate to pivot the entire Jeep on them, or drag them up the ledge before RML @URE.

I also have a Full Traction t-case skidplate.

Like I said, get some 2" square tube at PM Tube, bring it over and end up with this:

Then I went to URE with BigClay last Monday and after checking out his rocker guards decided I need something that stuck out a little more and had more protection. Back to PM Tube and...........

Some sanding and prep work to make them look just right befitting a GRAND Cherokee.....

A couple of coats of Ace Satin Black...............

On an xj, if it's trail only or you want it to look rugged and not sacrifice ground clearance, cut out the rockers and replace with 2x4 or 2x6 .250 wall. I did it on my old xj and it doesnt hang any lower than the floorpan, saves the doors and with the 2x6 it stuck out just enough to pivot around things. With that and the tnt stiffeners you could beat the crap out of the underside.
