what is the time frame for getting all utilities, water, cable, etc hooked up when you rent a new apartment?

could you find an apartment in the morningon day 1, figure out the lease, and make arrangements to get hooked up by day 2?

what obstacles does one run into with getting an apartment set up initially....im not talking about issues with the apt itself, or maintainence, etc.

It took us about a week in raleigh when I had a townhome here. It sucked........of course we were doing it around august when everyone and their mama was trying to do the same. Tv and internet took over 2 weeks.

i rented at a bunch of different places before i bought my place, and have never had it take any longer than a day, two at the most, to get all "critical" utilities going.

in most cases, all it takes is a phone call and a few minutes to switch them over assuming the landlord has them on. you might have to pay a deposit also. the only time you have to wait is if the services have been cut off. i.e. power meter pulled, water/gas meter valves off and locked, etc.
