I just got me a 90 wrangler and I was wanting to know what would be the best lift to put on (brand and inches of lift). i want to clear a 33x12.50 or 35.

provide a little more info. what size tire u want to clear, what type of terrain u plan on running. how much money u are lookin to spend. stuff like that will help us answer u question a little better

Alot of it depends on your mechanical abilities, a 4" spring lift will clear 33's and is just a bolt on deal (along with shocks, extended brake lines, etc.) or if you have the ability you can do a spring over and gain clearance that way. If your just looking to clear 33's I would just go with the bolt on 4" lift for now and get used to your jeep and then you can tweak it from there, fact is there will always be something you want to tweak or change on it anyway.....
As for brand, Rubicon express is probably your best choice, black diamond used to have a good lift, and I think BDS may have a pretty good one..its been a while since I messed with a leaf sprung jeep so I don't know what all is out there for those anymore,,,,,

We put an RE 4.5" XD on my brother's jeep. I can't remember exactly but I know he paid under $600 for it and it included everything. To clear 35's you'll need a few inches of body lift too or cut the fenders and install TJ flares.

SOA, but first, find a D44 for the front, a Ford 8.8 for the rear, and a 4.2 or 4.0 for the motor (if you don't already have one).

Best advice, try and stay away from online vendors if you can. Help out a local shop. :)

What type of engine does it have? I'd probably do a Spring Over Axle. It will allow for more travel and clearance of the leaf springs. I think you will find it's cheaper than an actual lift. It should give you 4 inches. The dana 30 front axle is weak but will hold up to 33 as long as you aren't on the gas all the time.

i would go soa if you have the ablitly to weld and get angles correct. just do you research and ask questions to things you don't know.
If you go SUA, Rubicon Express 100 percent. never ridden in a nicer lifted jeep than one that had the 4.5 spring lift kit. around 1000$ if i rember. a SYE would be nice but not neccesary with this lift.
If you go SOA, you WILL need a SYE.

Good luck

maybe a few more questions to figure out what might be better for you...

do you wheel ? plan to wheel, or just to drive around in it? have a budget ? want to spend more later or now? have a SYE? plan to regear ?

Id say get some 3" springs, a small body lift and stick to 33s and see how that goes...

I just got a 4" rough country lift for my 95 YJ for $500 even. I am running 33s and have no problems. It is a bolt on kit so with the tools and ability you could do it on your own. The kit also included everything needed to do the lift so your not running all over for little parts here and there. Its a good starter kit if your not planing on doing anything that is to extreme

YJ Lift

I have a 95 YJ it was stock when I got it and I wanted to get about the same results you do it sounds like. BDS Suspension has out a 3.5" lift, add shackles front and rear and you will sitting on 4.5" and easily clear 33's. You will need a body lift if you want 35's. Rubicon Express has a 4.5" kit which is pretty much the same as the BDS it just includes the shackles. I would probably steer clear of the SOA for now its pretty flexy unless all you are going to do is wheel. I was at Uwharrie this past weekend and ran everything from hardest to easiest with no problems.
