So on my way to Pigeon Forge every other week to get my daughter, I pass a place called WorkShop Tools. Looks like a Harbor Frieght kinda place from the outside. A co-worker had never been to TN and so I invited him to go. Needless to say we stopped in our our way back and was amazed to see what they had.....it was just like Harbor Frieght but with real name brands but real cheap.
Either way they had this "snake oil" stuff that claimed to eat rust away from anything that rust had gotten ahold of, except clothes....It's called Evap-O-Rust and says it can take the rust off of a guy named Rusty even. It said to let the tools set 30 min or overnight for stubborn stains...Anyway, I decided the $7 was worth the try. Before moving here last Sept I left one of my toolboxes outside and it rained that night, filling the box. In the move I just packed all the loose tools in a couple Wal Mart bags and that's where they have set for months. Making them even worse as the time went by. After letting them set overnight I got them out of the garage and cleaned them with a tooth brush and set them to dry on a few paper towels. THIS STUFF WORKED GREAT. I know how rust affects out work and play with the hobby we are into and I'm sold on this stuff. Only downside is, that it smells like celery:confused:. But it did a great job and would recommend it to anyone with a rust issue. I think it was $7 for a orange juice sized bottle or $16 for a 2-3 liter bottle.

where's the ratchet?
Still soaking, it wouldn't fit with everything else in the shallow bucket I was using. But I'll post as soon as it gets done bathing, that and the adjustable wrench as well. Kinda worried about the teeth in the ratchet, either way, it's a Craftman and they know me well at Sears. We break crap all week and take it all at once to save time/money. Alignments eat tools!

Thats pretty cool Jason

Just me, but after soaking the ratchet in that solution, I would dry it off then transfer it to a bath in oil to lube up the inner workings. But like you said, that looks clean enough, I doubt Sears would have any problem swapping it out for you, unless they hand you a rebuild kit and tell you to have a good day like they have been doing at some places lately :shaking:

Great results though. I have seen similar results in a electrolysis bath.

I work in a garage so they get alot of our business bc we hate tool truck prices. So they are usually very cordial with our needs.
And I plan on taking it to the shop tomarrow and taking it apart and getting it back in working order.

damn they look great. I Must get some, ever since this vvvv

I've had trouble with my tools rusting  I've cleaned them a couple times with wire wheel but of course it continues to grow.

At first I thought this was going to be like Va-Poo-rise.

The ratchet and adjustable wrench, took some pliers to free both but they work. And I have plenty left Tim. I'll give you what I didn't use.
