got a chance to work with richard (sharksandanger) and design a new spare carrier for the frontier. came out pretty good!
the old one i made in the basement:

the new one. tube. little bigger. plenty sturdy and will provide me a little extra room and clearance for camping gear:

I like it. The tube matches everything else alot better than the square box did.

Is it removable for use on the highway? Seems like it would block your window ALOT

That looks sweet, how does it effect tip over?

well, it definitely puts some weight up a little higher, but it's no worse than some of the set-ups i have seen on other vehicles. suvs with tires on top, etc.

i have been running this set-up for over a year with my old carrier and i have been seen some off camber stuff, but thankfully i havn't had any tip over experience to speak of yet.

I like it, its out of the way, but you can easily get up in the bed for access. The high center of gravity is the only drawback in my mind (I think the same thing for those SUV's). You say it works fine for how you maneuver so it is all good by me. The asthetics are very nice with the round tube as well.

Almost had a tip over at the bottom of Daneil if I remember correctly, but with the supereor driving skills you have you straighten her out:driver:

Hey,

i saw this thread yesterday morning and admired your tire carrier. then i walked into the shop this morning and saw a red frontier up on the lift getting an ARB locker and thought to myself... man that looks familiar! lol. great looking truck.

happy trails,
bigmac
