no they didn its just a 6.5 liter, are they good motors never messed with any chevys before are there any proformance chips and stuff for these trucks

There are a couple of upgrades for the 6.5. Not a whole lot of power to be had though. No one spends any money of them because you dont get hardley anything back out of it.

oh it runs pretty strong now, it will smoke the back tires off it lol, id like to get a good 4 or 5 inch exhaust for it but i havent found one for it

Its a truck. Its not hard to smoke tires on a truck. Especially one that probably has 3.73 or 4.10 gears in it. Put a 12k trailer behind it and then say its strong.

I am not knocking it. The 6.5 is a decent engine. They just dont make the power a cummins, dmax, or power stroke make. The 6.5 wont ever be a hot rod diesel.

:shaking:Please tell me you didn't trade the Cummins for it

Those 6.5s bring the suck

We had a 6.5 @ work & beat the snot out of it (multiple drivers, overloading on campus, etc) w/o any problems. Good luck!!

whats wrong with the 6.5s
want to know?, just ask me, just bought one, and put 95 miles on it and the injection pump went out, that is a 1400 dollar part new, you can find reman's for about 450-500, but this will be a persisting prob. they go out about every 4-5 years. other than the electronics and injection they are dependable, also need to move the pump driver from the side of the pump to the fender well or firewall to keep it cool. just saying expect to spend at the least 500-800 on it every few years, good luck w/ your 6.5 your gonna need it!

They are really bad for breaking crankshafts. Gutless comepared to other turbo D, Electrical problems.
The ones in the H1s got recalled due to the crank shafts
stock vs stock....I've seen them get out towed by a vortec 5.7 and get the same milage.

I'd say the truck will be way more comefortable than the old cummins.

good lookin truck. my GFs papaw has one he bought brandnew in 88 or 89. not sure if its the 6.5L but its a deisel. hes got over 300k on it. hes had to put a few HGs on it. my buddies got a 6.5L diesel. 4inch exhaust and straitpiped. its sounds pretty dern good. and they beat teh fooey out of it

I don't know what year GM started puttin the 6.2 in but if thats what in your GPs truck that it may be the only one on the earth with that many miles on it.

78-80 would be the LF9 5.7

LF9 Diesel
The LF9 was a 350-cubic-inch (5.7 L) Diesel V8 produced from 1978 to 1985.

Early 120 hp (89 kW) 220 ft·lbf (300 N·m) torque
Later 105 hp (78 kW) and 205 ft·lbf (278 N·m) torque
350N 1978-1980 GMC and Chevrolet light trucks "pickups"

haha. im dead serious its got that many miles on it. it was auto from the factory and that tranny crapped out after about 150k tho. he swapped in a manual. i meant 88 or 89 sorry it may may be a little earlier than that but its a scotsdale. the body style before the OPs truck. 78-79 was still the C-10s im thinkin

shew then that would be the 6.2 non Turdbo
