Do you want new trails to ride at Uwharrie? The FS has applied for funds to make new trails at Uwharrie. The catch is, they have to come up with matching funds for the money they receive.
The matching funds can come in the form of monetary donations, grants, etc or can come from volunteer time, labor and tools donated to the forest.
The FS is having a workday this Saturday, May 22nd starting at 9 a.m. If you are in the forest at this time and do not stop by for the workday, then I have to conclude that you are a selfish SOB and don't care about Uwharrie or getting new trails there!
All that is required of you is that you stop by the Hunt Camp parking lot between 8:45-9:15, sign the FS workday sheet that the Ranger will have available and go ride the trails (picking up some trash as you go).
And the excuse used by many that they were in the forest and picked up trash on the workday doesn't work. Unless you sign the Ranger sheet, your work is only doing a small part of what it could be doing! Every workday I stand in the parking lot watching as rig after rig rides right by on the way to the trails, some even give us a wave, but very few are doing their part!
As a perk, you can also get a free trail pass for the day, free camping for the night and a free hotdog from YHDG!
We HAVE to step up as a group and show the Forest Service the numbers of people that use the OHV area at Uwharrie or we are going to be starting a Rescue Uwharrie effort just like we had to do for Tellico!
