Nobody Wants to Be the Boss Anymore. Here’s Why, in Just 7 Words

Do you expect actual work? Because that starts at like $40/hr. For $25, all you get is someone to fill a desk and send 7 emails and attend 2 meetings while not paying attention (shit, I hope I didn't just show my hand! :D)
If you're paying $40/hr, sign me up.

Shitno, that's what the kids these days expect! Meanwhile companies still have to be profitable, and while there's probably room for wage growth in most industries, it ain't that!
Dang. I was gonna say for that price, I can start tomorrow lol.

A lot of truth in this thread.
Early in my career I managed in a manufacturing environment. Even back then employees entitled attitude drove me nuts and I swore I'd never do it again.
Next in my career I switched to data/technology and eventually managed again. I was lucky and had a solid, professional team but as they retired and I got closer I decided it was time for a step back to an individual contributor role and loved it.
Then a few months ago they moved our team and the BS got to the point I decided to retire early. My last day was last week. If I were still there I'd be on my 5th manager in 2025.
