Just so you guys know, 321 from Kirby Mountain Road to Richlands road is closed. They say it will open back up tomorrow but that almost never happens :shaking:

Anyways, the detour road would be a royal pain to get up if your hauling a trailer. Very narrow, its one lane but there is way more traffic on it now since the closure. I personally wouldnt want to take it if I was hauling anything.

Richlands as in the trail? Is it still legal?

wow great timing. am riding to sugar right now and saw this thread literally 1 minute before the usual turnaround. youre right, this bypass would be nothing but suck if pulling a trailer.

It is a county road.....As long as you stay on the road it is as legal as hwy. 321. I wouldn't drive anything that I cared about up that road......

He's referring to 321 from Lenoir to Boone. When we go to the Snake we always just ride 421 from Wilkes all the way up with no problems.

Richlands you can still get to, actually the bypass comes out across the street from Richlands, its called Waterfalls Road.

Living where I do, I always take exit 85 off of I-40, which is 221. 221N all the way to Boone, and then 421 into Mnt City
Not too hard of a pull at all.

my g/f and i just came home from Sevierville via 321 last week.....my first time ever driving it that far up (usually take 40 straight there...stupid rock slide) I'd hate to haul anything coming up/going down that road.....
