I believe that is what is in my 78 bronco. Is it any good for anything?
 
Ya, about $200 in good working condition. Total beef.

No reason at all to get rid of it, you'll not find a case any stronger! Good platform for a C6/203/205 doubler to get lower T-case gears.

what would be the low range ratio?

compared to a 231?
 
A np 231 is 2.72-1

A NP205 IIRC is 1.98-1
 
They are good strong cases,but if you get into heavy crawling you'll find they don't have enuf lo-range.
 
yea, looks like I'd need a lot more motor and gearing to make that work.
 
i have a 203 if u wanna do a doubler that way..
 
i think there is a company out there that makeslower gear sets for the 205, lomax or somethng like that.
 
Yeah Lomax makes a kit that's 3:1 and $1200,and as bad as it is to say 3:1 really isn't much gear.A stock 241 is 2:72. The 241/205 doubler IMO is the best bang for the buck(using a 205),they're just a little more labor intensive.
 
wow, didnt realize they were that expensive.

you may need a shorter tailshaft on your tranny to use a doubler. i cant remember of broncos had the long or short tail shafts. i think to do a doubler it adds 6 inches and using the other tailshaft will net you an exta 3 inches.

otherwise the driveshaft gets kinda short.

course its all above my paygrade and its been a while since i read up on it. i could be telling you completely opposite. but its something to look into t0.
 
I missed the Ford part:shaking:.The last time I looked the Lomax stuff is for the Chevy/Dodge cases only,and it might be hard gettin a 32 spline 241 on the back of a 31 spline C6.
