I am building a truggy, or Juggy if you will out of a cherokee and am having some issues getting the 231 shift linkage to work for me. I was wondering if there is any issues I am missing about cutting a hole in the floor, and running a shifter up through the floor straight off the shift fork. Granted it would have to have a few bends in it, but is there any other problems with a setup like this? Anyone done anything similar? It seems like the shifter would come out somewhere around where the E-brake handle is on a XJ. Let me know, Tim

you might also look into the Novak shifter...

it gets rid of the linkage that mounts to the body, and also reverses the shift (i.e. 2HI is "back" and 4LO is "forward")...
