I've heard it works pretty well. The inserts leave a little to be desired, but they should work for what you're trying to do. Either way, the gun should work with higher quality inserts, too, and you might be able to get those at ACE. If you've ever tried to price a GOOD nutsert tool, take a shot or two first. We paid about $500 for the one we use at work, and it only came with one tip to do one size insert. It is pneumatic, though. Designed for heavy-duty production. Example. Anyway, for $13, it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, I'll give you $10 for it!

Yeah, I've been doing soem digging around on this for my application (fiberglass, into a 4Runner top).
The thickness of the fiberglass seems to be the bniggest hitch, seems most sizes are intended for pretty thin material. I haven't measured yet, but I may be looking at .250 at least "grip" distance.
The other thing I kind of worry about is how the fiberglass will handle the initial stress from the crimping action. That's potentially a lot of force/resistenace... I'm wondering if the cheaper ones might actually be a little safer...?

I have used them for work. I really wouldnt reccomend them for fiberglass. they "grab" in metal with little splines to prevent the insert from spinning. I can see them spinning easily in fiberglass since it is not "metal" and seemingly brittle compared to metal. But they are really cool to use.
