OBDII inspection help

Well I've got a little problem here. I've got a 96 jeep zj, which comes stock with the 42re transmission. I swapped in an aw4 when i converted the jeep to 4wd, and now i've got a check engine light. I'm getting the code for:

45 Overdrive solenoid. Problem detected in the overdrive solenoid circuit.

What I'm contemplating doing, is taking an overdrive solenoid out of the valve body I've got out a 42re, and just splice it into the circuit. This hopefully will help get rid of this code.

My real question is though, is there a way to clear this code, or to get my jeep inspected even though this causes the CEL to come on? I have a feeling that this is against the law, but I don't see any reason that it's a problem because it's not like it's emissions or anything, right?

technically it IS emissions related because it will cause the trans to not use over drive, thus causing the engine to rev higher than nessisary for a given speed

EVERYTHING that is monitored by OBD2 has something to do with with emissions, no matter how obscure. it's petty and pissy, but yes, some trans functions are also monitored.

not really a way to get around the CEL, the OBD2 link with the state will pick up the command, that is all that is needed for instant fail.

Not knowing about Jeep specifically, is there a way to wire the AW4 for this function? or to at least duplicate it ?

just wiring in the solinoid may not solve the problem, and it could very well create yet another.

Maybe I could ask this. Is there something I can register the jeep as so that it doesn't have to have an obdII scan for it's inspection?

retitle as junk ?

unfortunately, if it's on the road, it has to pass.

Know anyone in a county that doesn't have OBD2 inspection ?

register it there maybe ?

What county's don't require the OBD2 inspection?

That makes sense though about how it's emissions related though. The AW4 is run by a TCM that is external from the PCM, which controls the 42re.

There isn't a way to put a resistor or anything inline to trick it?

the light come on based off a certin about of ohms/volts (not sure which) that is being fed through the cercuit. im sure you can find the wires at the computer and jerryrig a reistor in there somehow. blkvoodoo ive heard rumors that Johnston Co. doesnt require it, true?

lol you can get away with anything here in moco. Feel sorry for people that have to worry about every little pissy thing to get it inspected. but hey atleast its not as bad as cali inspections.

The purpose of OBD2 was to have a uniform emissions diagnostic link for ALL manufacturers to follow as mandated by the feds.

Imagine what emissions inspection would be like if every make had it's own system, being mostly proprietary.
