Like the title says; A buddy and I went to these trails just outside Blowing Rock on 321. My first time there and I made it all the way with stock suspension, bald rear tires, and only manual hubs. Does anyone know the name or what the area is called? Its a pretty popular place as we saw several truck convoys romping through the mud.

Yes! Thats the place. I only had a few problems with clearance, but didn't get stuck once. I'd love to go with a few guys back out there. There are a couple "playgrounds" or open areas with mud pits, etc that I would like to explore.

Yeah, that looks interesting - apparently there is a GeoCache hidden deep in there as well - in an ammo box or something...

Looks like a great trail ride - I am going to add this to my fall list for sure... What is your ride??? Define clearance issue - as in a little bump and run or a bash and bounce...

I have a 91 explorer with stock suspension running on 235s. There are a few rock facings, pointed rocks, etc that I had to carefully navigate around but...if you're running something lifted on 30+inches you should be fine. I mainly hit my trailer hitch in the rear but remember hitting the t-case once coming down the hill in front of the creek in the youtube vid.

Do you remember how you got there - was it off Richland Road??? trying to figure out how you get there - did you just follow it until it dumped you back out on Sampson Road (or something like that) or circle back and come back to 321...

I took 321(from Boone) through Blowing Rock down to where they blasted through the mountain side and took a left turn somewhere after the single lanes doubled. Richland sounds familiar..I circled around in the trails and came back to 321 to leave. There's a lot of NO TRESSPASSING signs but I was told the road/trail is public and as long as you don't leave the trail you should be fine.
I could definitely find my way there again..I suck at giving text directions.

Mod Edit:
---------------
This does not appear to Globe Trail. It appears this a geocaching location. Pertaining to the no-tresspassing signs, it appears those signs are for the land along side the trail and not the trail itself.

If anyone has any further information on the legality of this trail please post up. I did some digging and couldn't find anything stating the trail itself is closed or illegal, but it does appear there is no trespassing signs for lands near or off of the trail.

Here's a link about the geocaching location with some discussion:

Yes, I would like to know for sure - I see some other discussion about it as well - some even on here - but I wonder if the original posted ran into the signage that was possibly posted some time back...

Thats Sampson/Richlands Road... Fun to play around at just try and keep to the trails. Most the land is private and they've been trying to shut it down.... but Ive talked to Police (BRPD) and several park rangers (its near the parkway) that say the road is a fire road and legal to drive on. I wouldnt ever go out there alone though... (insert banjo music here)

^^^ ding ding we have a winner. DO NOT leave your rig there overnight

^ Yup...stick to the trail/road and hope you dont get caught or break if you do venture off. If you break use every resource possible to get it out of the woods. Theres some cool stuff out there but I would not recommend going unless you know someone who is a landowner out there or is familiar with the area.

Yep, leave something out there and there won't be a thing left on it when you come back! That's what I've always heard. I've found most people that far off the beaten path don't take to kindly to strangers and will do whatever they can to keep people out.
