I run a scout II dana 44 in the rear of my MJ, it is off center by just a couple or 3 inches. Are your axles offset to the passenger side? i dont know much about the older jeep stuff.
It doesnt cause any problems, but since it is offset towards the driver side, the driveshaft comes pretty close to the gas tank skid, i actually think there may be come contact on sidehills, but havent got a chance to really find out.
i guess moral of the story is that if it were offset by much more than just a couple inches, it would suck........
