Ok, so the wife leaves this morning for work as usual, makes it about 2 miles and bam!!, tucks a deer under the front of the '90 Runner.

Scares the hell out of her, scapes up the deer, all is well, she comes home to calm down a bit, let me check out the truck. Bent the lower valance and front bumper, cracked a signal lens, no big deal, they were all damaged anyway.

Wife calms down, has cup of coffee, decides to try again, half mile past the first incident, BAM!! hits another deer !!! head shot this time ( so she says) took him for a spin, bent the pass fender, busted side marker and headlight, and upon further inspection caved in pass. side door and rocker panel.

Ok, so now she is just FREAKED OUT !!! other than that, she is fine.

damn, it's only 5:50 am and we've had a fawked up day !!!

Happy SATURDAY !!!!

All I can think is that I'm glad she was driving the POS and not the Honda wagon, or it may have ended up in her lap !!!

Hopefully it can only get better from here !!!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ROADKILL! :bronco:

Who needs a gun or camo....??

There you go, just get up early and head down the road....why spend all that dough on huntin' gear and freeze out there in the stand.

Just let your wife drive... :D

j/k...sounds like a bad start to your day...we all have 'em ...

Hope it gets better!!!

:driver:

wonder if it was the same deer..if so that sob is having one real bad day

the blueyak...I hate to say this.. but I needed that laugh!

Did she have the brights on?

Nope, foggy as hell this AM, first one ran along the road then crossed in front and slipped on the pavement just before she hit it as she was stopping.

Second was with another deer and jumped out in front just as she saw them

Was traveling about 45mph.

second deer took a head shot with RF corner of the truck, broke the marker light and literally chipped the paint away. was spun around and into RF door caving it in and smashing the rocker panel, knocking the rust out and probably gouging the animal in the process, Deer fur down the side of the truck and on the front end.

I ended up driving her to work and never saw a thing, but then, I think by that time she had cleared the path.

just glad it was this truck and not the Honda, the outcome would have been much different !!

My brother-in-law and I both have the theory that the second was trying to improve on the firsts failure to commit more damage (hey y'all, watch, this is how it is done)

yes, I took her to work, she called her boss after the first hit, told him she would be late, he was cool with it,
I called the second time, told him that she had hit another and he thought I was crazy, till he realized I was serious, then said she was excused for the day (knowing she would have been pretty shook up).

It's all good, just a messed up beginning to an otherwise normal day.

Dang Kevin,
I have come close to hitting about 3 deer in the last week driving up 751 from Fuquay. I know it will only be a matter of time.

Everyone should get a big ass stinger to catch em and put the deer under the truck with less damage... then connect eh stinger into a fender bar and deer sliders. Never can be to safe.

I've only had 2 close calls on 751, and I drive that darn road every day... must be the turbo whistle driving them away... I'm ready to put another "kill" on the bumper.

haha when i first read that i thought "dude, how often does this poor lady hit deer?"

as for the second deer, i had the exact same experience in 2000, only i was driving a landcruiser i borrowed from this girl.

had driven down here to pick up some shelves for my dorm, and knocked it down about halfway back to boone...somewhere near harmony/union grove area.

that sucked bad....
so here's to your wife
and here's to the deer
and here's to you as you wrench on the ride

i second that, i read it and was thinking at first, "youd think she would stop after a few times instead of making it a usual thing..."

Grammar error noted and corrected.

sheesh !!! :flipoff2:

That she hit a deer isn't surprising, we see them all the time, I am surprised it hasen't happened sooner, that she hit 2 inside of an hour within 100ft of each other is what has me a little messed up.

I've thought many time of building a "Roo" bar for the front of the Honda ( the car she normally drives ) but to be effective it would be too heavy and be more of an "exo" cage with bars infront of the windshield just to keep the critters from sliding up the hood into the glass.

guess we'll park the Accord and let the Runners take the hits for a bit.

the '85 should fair much better.

It's mating season for them. Watch out. Now through the middle of November bucks will be harrassing the does. To get them off their backs they sometimes lead them across the road. Looks liked the scheme worked this time.

Hm, that's funny, looking back it seems that I've had women do the same thing to me!
