gotta a chevy 350 in a 80s model pickup that wont start for some reason. i thought it was the battery but it wont jump off another one either. no noise at all, i also took a voltmeter to the battery and got 12.something so i know its good, any ideas, no power anywhere, thanks

By what your saying your nothing works. No lights, gauges etc. If thats the case you need to go from the battery. Check your ground cable make sure its hooked up and clean. Check your + cable and make sure its hooked up and clean. If you have 12 volts at the big lug on the starter where your + cable hooks up you need to look at the smaller wires hooked up on the same lug. Make sure they are not broken. Check this and then we can go from there. If the dash lights etc are working and you dont have anything from the starter it could be the starter solanoid,or the nuetral start switch (auto)clutch switch(manual trans)

Do the dash lights etc come on when you turn the key?

the is a power wire that power the WHOLE truck that comes up a tube above the starter to a link on the fire wall.

The harness in this tube usually houses at least 2 fusable links as well as the "purple" starter energize wire that kick the solinoid on the starter when you turn the key.

THe 2 wires with the fusable links are also supposed to connect to the battery cable lug on the solinoid.

Also, if you have dash lights, then the fuseable link wires are connected correctly, and the purple wire isn't connected to the correct post on the solinoid.

ALL of this info is assuming this vehilce is anywhere near stock configuration and said tube is in place and said wiring hasn't been roasted against the exhaust manifold/header.

no dash lights or anything, it started right up the other day but after sitting for about a week nothing, i will check all the wires tomorrow and see if i can figure it out

What is the voltage on the battery when you turn the key to start??? If it drops considerably, like down below 6 volts, the battery either needs to be charged or replaced.
