Just wondering what you guys that have switched from a carb over to FI or LPG have done with your old mechanical fuel pump, if anything.

I dont feel like gettin a block off plate, so itll just stay on the side of the block doing nothing, but i had an idea that maybe you could use it to run pump some other fluid, since it pumps fuel at ~6-8psi...

Figure itd be a long shot that its used for anything, but wantin to hear ideas...

Water pump for on board shower. Probably need a new one because of the fuel smell, but run a coil near the radiator or exhaust manifold to get hot water.

Thats funny!!! (Prob wasnt supposed to be, was it?!)

But thats a good idea, thinkin in the right direction. It could definitely be useful for a trail-camp wash up or just a water transfer from a creek or something! Maybe wash out a mud clogged radiator?

Actually there's a thread on the ttora board about the most uncommon mod you can't live without and one of them was a water pump for a shower. Best one so far is the grill over the exhaust manifold to cook dinner on. There's also the intake on the 3.4 liter toyota engine that works good as an oven to throw your hot dogs or burritos it, wheel all morning and then have hot lunch right out of the foil. That's where I got the idea. I thought it was funny too, but these guys have everything on board from a fridge to the kitchen sink. (I've got enough A/C power in mine to run a good sized microwave.)

I remember an article in Road and Track or something, several years ago, where a bunch of guys took exotic cars on a road trip and where, while driving, they cooked these fancy entree's on the manifolds! "Chicken cordon bleu", baked potatoes, stuff like that. Then rated each cars ability to cook the food.
Guess there is no limit to what ya could do!
What is it you really want on board, Ben?!!

well, on board showers has been done, seen it. Cooking or rather heating on the intake manifold is way old, but still works at least with some engines. The shower thing sounds kewl, I would wrap the exhaust pipe with copper tubing to gain better heating. Hos about using it to transfer fuel from a auxiliary tank to the main tank? A pump to transfer extra ATF for the steep hills when you loose it to the back of the tranny?

well i was just wondering... i dunno really what i wanted to use it for, but i was thinkin that if it pumped fuel at ~7psi and ~75-100 gph, then maybe it could be used to pump water, atf, hydraulic fluid...

i was really wonderin if it might could even be used for something like helping on hyro-assist or full hydro for steering or something...

then again i dunno how well the fuel pump would work with different viscosities and densities of fluids, seeing as its basically just a diaphragm and a pushrod

How about windshield washer for the mud pit?

Wanna go crazy? Point the hose out the fender so you can squirt the annoying guy at the stop light.

Hell yea! I've thought about pointing a washer jet to the side for "that guy" with the loud Word! funky G music.
