old school

That thing is awesome! Especially in the context of 1926!

Less moving parts than a track. Less ground damage on dry ground. "Floats" on deep snow. Coverts back and forth to wheeled vehicle.

Wonder what could be developed using today's driveline developments and metallurgy?

the new Snow Cat?

So after seeing this (from all the previous posts too lol) and the russion "Screw Drive"....
why didn't this become more popular?

You just asked the same question that I have been pondering for two days. :wheel: I could see making a smaller version of that today using hydraulic motors and such. ;) I'm actually contemplating on how to do such a thing on something small like a lawn tractor or go-cart. I simply want to be able to make this and then see what it would/could do. I don't see needing a full size version of it as we just don't get the snow that we used to around here.
