Recently purchased a 1987 F-150 4WD. 300(4.9) 6 cylinder, T-18. Dual tanks, long wheelbase
Issues:
Needs a clutch, PO said it was slipping when pulling in high gear
Sliding glass in rear of cab, stationary piece busted out behing drivers head area taken out by a weed eater
seat in poor condition
no carpet, just bare metal floor. Some rust in floor at door
slightly bent bumper
Piece(not sure what it's called) between bumper and grill missing
has two different headlights
needs a new tailgate or the rods to fix it.
Horn doesn't work
Needs valve cover gasket
Has small draw on battery
The truck was originally a farm truck, from a working farm that did tours for groups, mostly for kids
It was purchased and used as a DD until parked, 2 years ago.
Would not jump off, battery was completely gone. Bought a battery, started right up. Stunk like rotten eggs due to the old gas.
Pros:
All lights work
has dual tanks
bed in decent condition
no body rust(at least not seen yet)
doors open and shut good
starts up good
has 4 almost new tires(were bought a few months before being parked)
Tires the same as my Son n Law just put on his Cherokee, he paid $509 for them. I forget the name of tires
Has nice set of aluminum wheels
has shifter for t case, not push button
has lock outs
has receiver hitch, and wiring for trailer lights(not tested)
Has AC(not tested)
fuel injected
The plan is to go through engine bay, clean it up, and replace all the normal things that you'd do to make it road worthy enough to drive to where ever to include:
All new hoses, radiator and heater hoses
new thermostat, possibly a new water pump and radiator
new plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap
Replace valve cover gasket
Change oil and filter
new air filter
Serpentine belt
New fuel filters
Truck will be used to haul what ever I need to haul. No plans for making it no where near show quality, just as decent as I can without breaking the bank.
Pictures to come.
