Spent the at Rauch Creek, PA, at the ADA fundraiser run by the MAryland Rock Raiders.
Great time, great folks.
Sat afternoon, I happen to look down at my driver's front tire, and saw this:
Some random piece of tree chunk sticking BETWEEN the rim lip and tire bead.
Sucker was really embedded in there, way up under the tire.
No clue how it happened; we'd been running trhough some thick stuff w/ misc vegetation, black PA gung and some limbs etc in the way. I had my tires around 11 psi, I can only guess I scraped past one and it snagged it off into it just right as rolling past.
Tried deflating the tire, then yanked it out; unf there was still soem crap (little pieces) left and THEN it started leaking, it kept the bead from re-seating. So, had to break it off (took 2 heavy vehicles, lol), clean it out, and re-do it via CO2 cannister. Hit the trails again.
Tire was perfectly fine!
Then, Sun afternoon, look down and, OMFG - same thing AGAIN, SAME TIRE. It's like a stick magnet!! Pics of that one will come later, had to take via cell phone (camera dead).
That time... I just left it in there... reinflated it, drove 120 mi home... still sitting that way in my garage, lol.
I guess the most amazing thing is how it not only got stuck in there, but stayed perfectly sealed.
These are good ol 32" BFG ATs. I have a real appreciation for these tires, holy cow.
