I need to find a pick up truck to rent in florida and drive it back up here while pulling a trailer with my furinature on it but I cant seem to find anyone willing to rent a pickup truck anyone ever dealt with this

Just get a unhaul box truck. put stuff inside and pull trailer back.

I have got rentals before that are trucks with a tow package, however you do sign saying you won't tow with them, but you can do it anyways...

Uhaul, Budget, etc would all work also.

When I moved down here from Michigan, I rented a Budget truck and flatbed trailer to go one way. At the time, I was working, so I had to have my girlfriend (at the time) pick up the rig. It was a 24 foot box and the trailer had surge brakes. When she picked it up, she noticed that the brakes felt funny and went back inside to tell them. Their response was "once it's loaded, the brakes will tighten up and be fine." I loaded it up with all my belongings, an unfinished Jeep project on the trailer and a loose motor inside the box part of the truck sitting on a tire. The brakes never got better. Going through the mountains in Virginia was the most harrowing experience of my life. Several times I had my eye on the runaway truck ramps thinking I was going to have to use one since the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor. The trailer would catch up to the truck and begin to slow down until the surge brake controller let off allowing the truck to speed up again. The back and forth motion about made me sea-sick on top of my anxiety of a lack of brakes.

When I turned the truck in, all they could say is, "We'll have the brakes checked when it is returned from the next renter - who is picking it up in about 2 hours.

Nice.
