I was a little surprised last night I went on to reserve a campsite in Arrowhead for opening weekend and every single campsite was available. Where’s the excitement that normally starts to build this time a year. We are only 5 weeks away.

I have spent the last 2 months getting my Jeep ready, haven't done anything extreme to it because URE is the primary place I intend to camp and ride. I am looking forward to finally getting on the trails and see how the new tires, gears and locker work.

I reserved campsite 27 at arrowhead I will have my TJ, my brother will be there and he'll have his CJ5, If anyone is in the area stop by we are always looking for new people to ride with. If you have kids in the range of 7-10 and need to get them out of your hair for a while send to the site 27 my two kids always like making new friends.:driver:

Yea thats weird. Its usually booked full months before. Maybe the economy is hitting someone else other than me.

I'll be there!

i'm planning on taking a group down there.

We will be there the following weekend. Are all the trails open this year or are some still closed

All the trails should be open. The contractor work that was done last year has long been over with.

I know a lot of it is that more and more people avoid opening weekend. And more groups are avoiding planning their trips for opening weekend.

To put it simply, too many people, too much drama, and too many people being stupid opening weekend (not talking about people on here really). Its not a coincidence that the Forest Service is out in force opening weekend.

I'll be sure to drop all of my kids off at site 27.

Ill be down, I even posted an almost identical thread haha! Im camping on the trails though. I plan on being there friday morning waiting on them to open the gate. Got a big group meeting me later that day.

That Friday will be like the Redneck Run at Jambo. Everyone running for their campsite.
Check it out if you haven't seen it before. These folks arrive early at the gates to race and claim their spot for the big party.

Thats one good thing about being able to researve a campsite! No redneck running!

This^^^ I usually lead a group the opening weekend but after the past few years we have moved it to Aprill 22nd. Last year was a mess opening day.

How do factory ZJs do out there (with hwy tread)? :) Seriously, how do they do? I might head out there to ride with some people, but if its dry enough, why not? The TJ was always too easy anyway lol

Well got us a group camp spot over at Badin Lake. If anyone from the south charlotte/waxhaw area wants to tag along hit me up. We're heading up there friday night after work and staying til sunday.
