opinion on a sale/situation

So an individual came to get Elliott's jeep today, he loaded it up and off he went. Elliott told him he would include his old optima battery with the sale/give away, I took said optima to Advance auto to have it checked/charged to make sure it held charge two days ago. I told said indvidual that battery was at advance and he went to get it and they told him it wasn't there and that I had already picked it up. Apparently he came back by house, knocked on door, I didn't answer as I was in the shower. He also called but again I was in the shower so I missed the calls. I get out when GF says Elliott called about battery and said that individual had opened our garage and had taken a debenbear knuckle that was sitting there because advance told him the battery wasn't there and that I was trying to F him over. I had no intention of f-ing anybody over, I had nothing to do with this sale!

So I'm a little confused because now my knuckle was stolen out of my garage because of a battery that wasn't mine. So I just got back from advance with guess what??? The red top optima that I dropped off on friday, had been taken off of charge and waiting for me with a note on it with my name and number.

I guess I'm a little upset about him opening my garage and taking a knuckle thats mine for a battery that wasn't. Elliott told me to call him to arrange to get my parts back when I have the battery. I think that's pretty ridiculous being that again, the parts he came to get were not mine but my parts have been taken.


I made this post to ask what would you do if someone let themselves in your garage taking some of your parts for a battery that wasn't yours and that you didn't have anything to do with besides taking it to advance to have it checked. I already have another optima I'm trying to sell so I have no need for another but I also don't need the knuckle, I acquired it in a trade and has been for sale for a while now with no luck.

What should I do?
 
First I'd call the said purchaser... tell them it needs to be back by the end of the day... and at that time if it's not back a police report would be filed...

Or just do it the old fashioned way...
 
I would get in contact with the buyer and offer to deliver him the battery and when I arrived once I had gotten my parts back, someone would be gettin a old fashioned ass kicking. I know it's not the proper thing to do but the buyer crossed the line when he "broke" into the garage.
 
Thats breaking & entering, no matter the circumstances. He had no right to enter your garage & take something that belongs to you.

Call the sheriffs dept. & file a complaint. Give him the battery whae he gets out of jail.
 
As stated: Police report first. Then make the battery available at some other location (maybe elliot's place).
 
I'd give him a chance to redeem himself by bringing it back on his gas, not yours. Kick his ass? No. Chew him out good and make him feel like a fool? Of course! And don't forget to post his SN here at some point so we can make sure not to deal with him in the future. For God's sake, it was a free Jeep! That's like saying "You told me you were going to give me $125 for being such a nice guy. This is only $100! I'm gonna kick you in the nards." Dipshit.

I'm with all of these guys.
I'm sure the "buyer" was pissed about the "pointless" run to Advance, and probably thinking that he got lied to/taken on teh battery end of teh deal - but ogoing into your garage was over the line, both morally and legally.

Yup, I'd offer 24 hrs to return it before the police report is filed. No questions that this is breakin gand entering.

once question - did you GF see this happen? Has dude admitted it? I'm just wondering waht "proof" you have for the police report.

I MIGHT TELL HIM TO GO F**K HIMSELF IF YOU DONT NEED THE KNUCKLE. WHAT A DICK. IF THATS A PROBLEM THEN BASH HIS HEAD IN WITH THE OTHER KNUCKLE.
 
Gf and I were both upstairs when this happened. Dude told Elliott that he took the knuckle because I was trying to f him over. My Gf knows, Elliott knows and I know.

I'm know elliott acquired a little bit of cash($50) from dude but the dude is crushing the vehicle so not only would he get some parts he would also get the cash for scrapping it or selling the motor and tranny then scrapping the body.

What a dickhead.

Whether you need the knuckle or not, thsi is a matter of principle.
Confront dude directly via documented means (email, PM, etc), and warn him that if knuckle is not returned he will be visited by the popo. Very simple. And he could pick up the battery when he comes.

The fact that Elliot took the time/effort to take the battery to have it charged prior to practically giving it away shows the extent of his chatactar - many folks would not do that or even be expected to. You simply do not step on the toes of a person who goes out of their way for people like that.

Yeah who gives a shit why he did it. File a police report, NOW.. the sooner the better.. It needs to be handled by law, if this guy is such a dick weed, he might come back with a .45 this go around.
 
right answer is probably a police report...Id like to think Id handle it that way...better than average chance I woudlnt react that calmly
 
call the 5-0 immediatly... explain the whole situation so their is NO confusion....
 
Cops need to hear about this ASAP......stealing is stealing.
