opinions on new axles??

alright, next fall i want to have some better axles and there is two different ways to go...
1st... a 9", D44 combo, i can get the rear for 150-250.00, and i have no idea on a front d44 price to match it...nice thing would be able to still run my 36x15" tires and will be alittle wider... bad, it's strong but not that strong
2nd, D60 FF or 14 bolt rear w/ a d44 or maybe a d60 front...both rears can get for less then nothing, the 14B has good brakes and LSD, would need to be re-geared and it is not all that wide, the d60 rear is wider, no brakes on it so would need to get disks for it... but it may look really weird w/ only running 36 so would need to go alittle bigger tire and would need new rims but they are stronger... any ideas???
the 1st combo would be more expensive in the axles but save money due to already having rims to fit...the 2nd, the axle's would be cheaper but would need new rims and maybe some height so i pay more there

Eventually you will want a 60 front. Go 8 lug so you don't have to buy new wheels later. Also the 14 will never break.

The 60 rear isn't near as strong as the 14 bolt.

whats the 14b compared to, d70??
how far of a wheel spacer would i need to run a 15" rim off of the 60 or 14b

That thing is going to do some serious plowing with a 60/14b and 36s.:shaking:

The 44/9" combo will hold up fine to 36s, I don't see you having too much trouble with that setup.

P.S. The 9" is more than likely stronger that the 60 with a lot less weight.

is it possible to get 8 lug shafts for a 9"?

We need to talk if this is the case.... but from what Ive found, not without doing a FF conversion on them... Ive been told they dont have blanks big enough for 8 lug... 5 or 6 lug is avail for both them and d60 fronts...

well i don't mind going a little bigger w/ a 14b or 60...it just means i will be allittle longer till i do the swap so i can get bigger springs...37, 38's would be max either way i go... this being my DD i wanting something that i will not be scared to wheel because it possible to brake...it's just such a good deal i don't want to pass up on the 60 and 14B

One more thing, your on the coast. Do you drive inland to go wheeling? Trails with rocks and places where you'll really bind up your drivetrain. If your mostly on dirt and sand. You would be fine on that 44 and 9 to probably 38's or maybe more depending on how you drive.

None, just get wheels with 2.75" BS.

I wouldn't put ton axles under that thing if you are DD'ing it and only going to run 38" max tire size.

Go with a D44 and 9".
