Anyone in the coastal area interested in painting my YJ? I'm looking for someone who will work with me as far as time frame and detail are concerned. It's my daily driver so I'd like to bring it to someone maybe on thurs or fri with the lights removed and bumpers already off. I hate tape lines and really want to find some one who is willing to go that extra step. Did I mention I've got a pretty tight budget? LOL any one interested or know someone let me know. I'd rather put cash in a working mans pocket. Oh and I don't want to be someones first either, I can do that on my own:beer:

paint

ummm, Extra mile?
Paint on a weekend?
Experienced painter?
Tight budget?
Good luck!

Yeah upnover I know I'm asking a lot but I also have great faith in the generosity of humanity, I've been helped out of some amazingly crappy situations by someone who didn't even want a thank you. By the same token I have done the same for countless people in the past. not to sound corny, foolish, or nai've but I believe in "paying it forward" and I'm sure there are others like me out there...

Good Luck.
if you needed your Jeep repaired to geet to work to feed your family, quick cheap and great you would probably have no shortage of nc4x4 folks tripping over themselves to help.

by definition paint is an optional, or superficial change. To find someone willing to do their job, on hours they dont normally work, do better than average work and charge less than normal.

Goods luck.....and let us know who does do it so we can all hit him up

Unfortunately I dont have the time or space to help you out right now with it. But out of curiosity, are you looking for a nice single stage job or an all out two stage repaint? If you're goal is to look good on the cheap you can shoot a non metallic single stage in the driveway with good results as long as you have decent weather.

thanks DemonDave, basicallym looking for a decent single stage. Can't do it myself at my house...way too much constant breeze and a tiny one car garage. Not looking for a Concours job but don't want it to look like I took a wagner to it! I probably should rephrase my request. I can get the jeep pretty well prepped, I'm looking for someone who can finish prep and give me a good paint job for a reasonable cost. Maybe someone who works for a shop during the week but would be interested in side work. You can't tell me that when shops in the coastal area are paying guys 10.00-15.00 an hour all week long that one of those guys wouldn't like to put a weeks pay in his pocket for a day-day and a halfs work without the tax man getting his paws all over it!! Not looking for someone to do this for free.

I'll see if I can find the contact infor for a guy in Vanceboro that I used to work with. He mainly does Harleys on the side, but I'm sure he wouldn't be afraid of a quick single stage job. Also, if you can't scare someone up, Maaco actually does a decent job if you have most of the prep done beforehand. My neighbor took his Toyota there a couple years ago after I had done the metalwork and primed/prepped it for a quick color coat because I ran out of free time to work on it. It came out pretty good for the $249 special. Last I looked it only had one bad spot in it that I believe was knocked off instead of flaking. Looked to have an impact spot in it.
