Ive had an account with paypal for a couple of years now, I dont use it a whole lot but every now and then ill find something on ebay that I "need" and ill purchase it. I got paypal b/c its supposed to be quicker than sending a personal check or money order or whatever plus most sellers prefer paypal. My issue is this, I cannot figure out, to save my life, how I switch my payment method. Its somehow setup so that it sends an "e-check" which takes the same amount of time to clear as if I were to send a personal check, thus delaying my purchase! Can anyone school me on paypal? Please? Just to make this clear if I havent done so, Im looking to switch my payment method so that it deducts the money directly from my bank account instead of sending an e-check, Thanks.

I'll have to say that paypal sucks big time. They completely fubared an order I placed for some Jeep parts. First took the money from the wrong account then gave me the wrong info on resolving the first problem which made things even worse. Then told me to have the vendor refund the order to clear the hold on my account which the vendor laughed at. Took six calls to "customer no service" and no telling how much time to resolve.
end rant.

There is usually a small insignificant link towards the bottom of the transaction page that allows you to change funding source. This may be what you need not sure though. Good luck.

That'll be $5.....You can pay me through PayPal

You can add a true CC, but it will pull from existing PayPal balanc FIRST and put the rest on the CC... effective making the entire transaction an "e-check" (since it's waiting on the remainder to clear the CC)

I have always used paypal through a credit/debit card, something about giving out my true account number really bothered me. This always works quickly, though I don't know if it's what you're trying to do...if you have a debit card, you can input it like a credit card and it will deduct the funds straight from your checking account. Just log in and go to profile>add or edit credit card.

I really hate this "feature". My wife goes to buy something on eBay, wants to pay by credit card, so yshe pretty much has to use ppayPal. No problem, her CC is tied to it.
Low and behold, meanwhile I've just an hour ago received some "cahs" money from somebody here buuying some parts or whatever.
Her purchase ends up taking it out of my "play money", now we have to do alot of shuffling to get it straightened out.
Grrrr.....

Ditto! Had the same thing when buying equiment for my wife's new "lab"... had $100 in the PP acct., so when I needed to send some funds, I put it on HER CC#. That way, her records show the total cost of her equipment and I got my parts...

OTOH, my PP acct. is empty now

I dont see what the problem is. I have two account linked to my PP, my debit and CC. When i make a purchase I chose which account i want to debit the funds from. Hit pay, the transaction is done, it shows up on my statement in a day or two.

User error.

yea i'm gonna have to say that anyone having a problem sending money on paypal "instantly" is doing something wrong. paypal, once you understand how to use it, is damn near idiot proof.

Only issue I have is that to have multiple paypal accounts you have to have multiple Bank/CC accounts to tie up. I don't like that, manily cause I don't have multiple accounts to assign to.

Other than that, it's pretty easy.

Well, go back and look at the OP.
Dude said he figured he was doing something wrong, and has asked for help. What more do you want?

User error.
umm hows this helpful? and the post under it as well? If youve got some helpful advice towards my question, please feel free to toss it out there, otherwise keep your "user errors" to yourself please. For others trying to help me out, thanks. Like I said, im not sure whats going on, Ive got my checking account linked to the paypal and ive added my credit/debit card as well. But when I go to pay through ebay using paypal, it doesnt ask me what type of transaction I want to use, If I choose paypal it just asks for me to login and then confirms with me that I want to send "X" amount of dollars to the ebay user and Ill click confirm, next thing I know its sending me to a receipt page confirming my paypal transaction, which for this particular transaction that went down last night is not supposed to clear until the 10th.

you have to setup your preferences to debit your cc/debit card instead of your checking account if you want your transactions to be paid instantly.....

when you are making a payment via ebay as you just stated it shows you what account it's taking the money from... and if that account isn't a cc or debit card by default and you don't correct it then it'll be an echeck which is slow....
