Stokin' it, oh yeah, a world of difference!
Make sure to get a good shop to do the engine work. Specify checking the cam bore, as well as the crank bore. Have the block magnafluxed too. Worth it for piece of mind. If you are going to build yourself, make sure you know what you are doing. Needs to be done right, or it won't last. If you stroke it, it will need to be checked for valve clearance as well as crank/rod clearance. Not all blocks are cast the same. Don't order the engine kit until the machine shop has done the machine work and checked it out. If you stray from a OEM type cam, such as the RV cam( this isn't a name brand, but a different grind to give you more torque) make sure your valve train will match up. Springs, stem hight and so on. By all means, have it balanced. Well worth the money. Even an un-noticeable vibration defiantly shortens the life of the engine. Much more could be said here, but, if you have questions, feel free to PM me. There are good shops and not so good ones. so get references!
