i know this isnt the best site to post this, but i am pretty pleased with how my car turned out. Just picked it up today from paint. I wanted to go the all black route/hot rod black. This is just an 1/8 mile bracket drag car. 87 mustang with a 351windsor. Never been to the strip yet but looking for anywhere from 6.50-6.70 around 103-105 mph on motor. I didnt like the way me headlights turned out so i got to redo them. They are not in the pics. My niteshading didnt do so well :) ... also got to tint the windows and its done.

i have no idea on the HP and torque really. Im afraid to guess. I had a pretty healthy 347 that made 515 at the crank. This one is 351 bored and stroked to 383. Only problem is, i am using my heads off my 347 which arent ideal for the larger motor. BUT they have had some port work/larger valves so i am hoping they perform well. Also, the engine was originally intended for a turbo so the cam might also hurt me on motor.

We will just have to wait and see. the 347 ran 6.70's @ 103 in a car about 300lbs heavier. It may blow me away and run extremely well, and then again the heads/cam may hurt it and it run the same as the 347.

i will know next friday

Nice! Lets see some pics under the hood too.

I vote you paint the wheels red. With that and the flat black body... should give it an oldschool rat rod feel.

If you ever come over to the drag strip in Mooresville or Concord, let me know. I'd like to come see it run.

I like it! I love the trunk cars. They used to be a dime a dozen, but you don't see them much anymore. Do you plan on spraying it?

i dont plan on spraying it, but might change my mind. I just bracket race it. Never liked nitrous, its rough on an engine and I dont have the money to keep rebuilding lol.

I come to mooresville SOMETIMES, not often. I will let u know when i head that way.

thanks for the compliments

nah, the small block packs plenty of power. I like a stock hood myself, but a stock hood wouldnt clear.

and Snappy, who are you? lol. Yes the "dotys" are my family. I assume you are talking about "little"?

Ain't ford man by no means, but that looks wicked. Are you the same silver that posts on the farm's message board? If so, reckon I'll see ya around the track this weekend. I'm the guy that runs the flat black 69 chevy truck with a 4 speed footbrakin'. Chris.

lol yes u know me .... or of me. I am Rick and "littles" brother. Little or Doty or Allan ... whatever u call him. The one that helped you with or sold you the 400 small block.

Shoot, didn't figure u'd be on a 4x4 forum. Hope yall been doin alright. I pit tower side at the finish line, yall need anything gimmie a holler. Chris.

was the bottom end built for boost as well? I'd assume you have lower compression pistons in there? I would assume that would hurt you a good bit on the power as well running it N/A

yes, dish pistons and was intended to be 8.5:1 on compression. BUT i am using cometic headgaskets, and had the heads shaved down. We figure the compression at 10.5:1 now which is right where i want to be.

I still want to run 93 octane. No doubt, different cam, better heads, and more compression with race gas. Theres probably 1/2 second to gain in the e.t.

Hope the rains hold off tomorrow and we will see what it will do. It sure does feel good and has good throttle response playing in the driveway.

To Chris, about being on a 4x4 forum. I have had some 4wd's in the past and joined here to sell them. I love coming on here and checking the classifieds. The mustangs have just hurt my wallet so i cant buy one right now lol, but i would love to have another 4x4. preferably a wrangler or k5 blazer.

Where were ya tonite? Rained till bout 7:15 then cleared up. Track was in pretty good shape coniderin the weather. Just cold and windy. Chris.

it rained pretty good in winston and was raining in clemmons, figured it would be a waste of time. Im heading out here at 10:30 this morning.

time to go racing ...

how was the turnout last night? who won footbrake? how many cars?

ran the car today.

60' - 1.38
1/8 mile - 6.82@100mph

The e.t was slower than i had anticipated. The small heads are choking it down up top or either the cam just isnt working well on all motor.

but 1.38 60' !!!!! holy hell, that felt good. Very pleased with that.

Nice ET! what's it weigh? I had a car that ran 7.50's in the 1/8 at 3700 lb. so I know what that felt like. That much faster is moving!
