Pillow Track

10 points for a creative idea.

Seems that stability may be an issue...'squishy', pop-out from under the tire, etc. Also wonder, in a couple of clips, you see where it rolls up under the vehicle once the tire clears...what does a hot Cat do to them?

I've been in a spot or two where something like this would have worked...but other means and methods (different line, strap, pull a cable, etc...even -- gasp -- stacking rocks) would have been just as fast or probably faster than inflating and positioning these things.

I'll spend that money on beer instead.

think it is a bs idea who would use them
I think its a decent idea for a stockish rig. A use that comes to mind is all the fishermen on OBX in the sand. Some of that sand is supersoft and easy to sink down in, and help is not always around. Keep one in the tool box, takes up very little space, and can get you out of that situation. I see quite a few guys that use 2x6's or even aluminum 4wheeler ramps for that use out on the beach.

sand wheeling would be the only place I would use these. unlike in the woods where there are plenty of rocks to stack, lines to take and trees to winch from... the beach has very little to offer when its time to get "unstuck." and I think using these would be better than digging your rig out.

but if you always wheel with someone, the chances that you'll need those will be very slim as long as someone has a strap or winch.

I agree. One real adavantage is the minimum space it'd take up stashed in a toolbox, fender, etc. Good "in case of emergency" device.
However - key is that you need a compressor for it to be useful, and for it to inflate/be stronng enou ghto lift a vehicle, I'd assume it needs a good bit of volume/pressure, can't imagine a small hand pump would do it. E.g. also carry an MV50 or something.

I don't know, for $160 you could buy a hi-lift and s way to mount it.

X2 on the sand wheelin, but I have seen plenty of people just use rubber floor mats to do the same thing as these. And the floormats come with the vehicle.

if you pulled out a inflatable air matress on the trail and start blowing  the do make air jacks kinda like that and it would be good for sand i guess somewhere where there is not a hard flat surface to use a high lift just use rocks i just dont see the real advantage of this over some rocks unless you in the sand

So does this thread constitute pillow talk? I could see having them when on Safari, or the like when you may not speak the native language or it's 1000 miles to the nearest help. I can definitely see their place. Seems maybe a bit pricey, but in said situation would be worth their weight in gold.
