Pine neelles and landscaping timbers

Hmmmm..... lots of new contruction in Clemmons... those guys buy the good stuff...

... but re-bailing it to get home might be a pain

Smaller family owned nurserys will have your best prices. Their quality is also alot better than Lowes or Home Depot. Alot of local farmers also carry pine needles. As for the timbers it would probably be hard to find anyone to beat Lowes or HD.

sorry this is kinda off subject but , Revolution mill here in g'boro uses plastic pine needles. I thought that was crazy , I have never seen that before.:shaking:

That's the new big thing
Advantage 1: Put them down, they never rot or discolor. No need for replacin geach year.
Advatnage 2: Made from recycled shredded plastic, so you're doin gsomething enviro friendly.

Disadvantage 1: Pricy!
Disadvantage 2: If it's in an area where they get congested w/ leaves, grass, other crap - becomes a big mess b/c you can't just rake it all up and throw the pile in the mulch
Disadvantage 3: If it's in an area where they tend to spread/ find their way into teh yard, you now have plastic everywhere that will never "go away".

Not worth it IMO.
I'll check out Riverside, that's right up the road from me

Pine needles:

Riverside - 4.79
Smitherman's - 5:29
Lowes - 3.49
HD - 3:49

What so frustrating is knowing my wife's parent's live in Southern Pines, where people PAY to have them picked up and removed from their yard, lol.

Off topic, but I hate putting down pine needles. Thats one part of not working at Bermuda Run I won't miss at all. They got their pine needles from down east somewhere, all 6 tractor trailer loads.

I bet some bales are bigger than others

I'm sure that's true.
Word on teh street is there's a big stractor trailer parked out by Farmer Supply selling 'em

lol, black market lawn supply. they got all the good stuff imported from cuba.

I worked at Homewood nursery and dealt with the pinestraw, and now I work at Lowe's, and honestly they're bales are pretty damn close to being the same. In all honesty they probably get them from the same places. Lowe's can just afford no markup on a bale where these small places have to pick up profit wherever they can.

Oh, and Homewood was 4.99 a bale and lowe's is 3.49.

Spivey's nursury, Beeson RD, Oak Ridge.

Unf I live in Lewisville.
I think the 60+ mi round trip would negate any price savings in gas

spiveys has great prices on plants but the needles are alittle pricey we get our needles from lowes most of the time we where using a guy out of reidsville and the needles looked about the same actually i think the needles at lowes spread alittle better

Dont buy from Lowes or Home Depot. I know for a fact that they bailed all kinds of junk in the HD bails, considering i worked there. They are small and very crappy quality. I would only assume as much from Lowes.
