Is there a good list of trails I can head to from Raleigh? Looking to get an ATV this year and I'd like to find some trails. Utility 4x2 likely not a sport for sure. Looking for more wooded trails and rocky climbs, stuff like you'd bring your family along for.

My favorite places are Uwharrie, Brushy Mtn, Brown Mtn, CAW and the Hatfield trails.

Outback is fun but it's really flat.

No doubt, I used to live in Christiansburg, not to far from you. Not many places for me to work around there though but I'd still like to retire out that way.

I know this is an old posting, but thought I would respond anyway.
There are some good trails at the end of Oregon Trail in Garner (27529). (Just a few miles outside of Raleigh) You can park at the end of Oregon Trail, because it's a public maintained road. The ill-tempered lady at the end of the road might tell you it's a private road, but according to the Wake County Sheriff's office it's public. Me and my friends have been going down there for 15 years and never had any issues. You can legally park all down the left side of the road, but might want to stay out of the yard to the right. The trails go for tens of miles, and lots of challenges for an ATV or motocross.

That's a mixture of City of Raleigh and privately-owned property. I'm guessing you don't have permission to be on any of it...?
